Possible Trade up I would love to see happen on day 1 of the draft With the 7th pick in the 2010 NFL draft, The New York Jets select- Eric Berry via trade with Cleveland Jets trade their 2010 first round pick, 2011 first round pick, 2010 6th round pick and leon washington for Clevelands #7 pick in the first round. Base on the trade chart. the Jets give up 1566 points for 1500 points. Very fair I really think this would be a great move by our FO. Rex Ryan could use a Ed Reed in his defense. Berry would be the ball hawk in the secondary that we need and would round out our already stout defense. Would love to see what you guys think of this.
Great lets give up another entire draft and pay another player 50 million. Will have enough cap room in 2011 to sign one of our free agents.
depends on what value you are placing on Leon for the points value to even out. Also while I agree Berry would be the final missing piece to this defense, I don't think its really possible to get up that far. That is an awful lot of value to give up for one player.
In regards to this, right now their is no cap and our FO doesnt seem to worried about it, so neither should you. I think Berry is Rex's guy and I will not be surprised to see this move actually happen
BBBoooooooooooooo.............. That gives us no picks untill round 3 next year, and no money to spend resigning all of our studs next year once the cap returns. We defenetly have to trade in the first round, but you messed up with the direction.
It's not worth giving up a 2011 first round pick and Leon Washington to get Eric Berry IMO.. This would be moving up WAY too far
This seems like a good enough area to ask this question. There is a strong possibility of a 2011 lockout, correct? Therefore, if a talented underclassman had the choice between staying in school for a year or declaring, 2011, above all previous years, would be a good time to go back to school, correct? So... if the first two suppositions are accurate, wouldn't the 2011 draft class be poor, or at least poorer? And if that is true, wouldn't the 2010 Draft, above all previous drafts, be the year to dip into the next year's draft for picks?
I disagree, I think we should trade up and get a young impact player on the defensive side of the ball, then use our 2nd round pick to trade back and stock up on DL and OL depth. Our team is already stacked and with the addition of Berry we would be ready to solidify ourselves as favorites to win the super bowl.
My thoughts exactly. The 2011 draft wont have that much to offer. Tanny and Rex realize this and have no problem using those picks to move up and down in this years draft.
you don't sell the future for a kid who isn't heralded as the next Ed Reed or Polamalu. that's stupid. this defense doesn't need one player, it needs 2 players to fill in for starters and grow into their own when the veterans are too old to continue.
I think you could also look at this the other way. Since there are so many talented players in this draft, why not trade back and load up on more studs rather than limit our picks this year.
I agree with you that we need two players, but if that is your thought, why not draft the best safety in the deepest draft in years, then pick up DL and OL in later rounds. If the draft is as deep as we all think, we should be able to find prospects that we can groom for the future in the later rounds.
We no longer need skill position players with what the FO has done! We need grunts to play in the trenches!!
I still think Rex wants another CB. If Jason Taylor comes here I know we will go DB in round 1. Cromartie is no lock beyond this year and we really could use another Safety. I'm thinking a trade-up for Earl Thomas. Can play both positions and Mayock is so in love with him he thinks he is better than Berry.
Does Berry have the ability to play CB also? Why is Berry rated above Thomas on a lot of boards if Thomas is a more versitile player?
DE or DB in round one. I think they move up or down based on value. I don't think there is anyway they want another top 10 or even top 15 contract on the team right now.
Eric Berry's the best safety prospect to come out since Sean Taylor... With that said: Have you not seen how talented 2011's class can be? There's so much value at wideout, running back, and 3-4 defensive end. I guess we probably won't need a wideout, but the 3-4 defensive end class could be the best ever. As good as Eric Berry is, it's not worth it to risk the future of our team to go up for one player. We have to build depth and get better a multiple positions.
