With the trade for Santonio Holmes which direction does Tannenbaum go. I still think we need to get more younger and athletic along the D line. Ellis is getting older and Douglas has left. If Taylor comes on board we won't need to draft a OLB. So safety or cornerback should be next up because we loss Shepperd and Strickland. Plus we need to get rid of Coleman.
Deal with DL, OLB etc. in early rounds. Draft RB back-up with late round picks. I may be in a minority of one on this one but someone like Hardesty would be a good pick if Washington is traded/breaks down and/or LT is less productive than expected.
Hardesty will probably be gone by the time our second rounder comes around. We're more than likely going to see a mid-round RB taken by the Jets...someone like James Starks or Javarris James.
We need to improve the defensive line early. That's our biggest hole now. Linval Joseph, Cam Thomas, Alex Carrington, and Terrell Troup should all be on our short lists.
That hasn't been in the Jets vocabulary for 10 years..not since MAYBE Parcells was here. They will go offense..RB or WR despite what they have already done with their off season moves. Or they will move down.
I posted in another thread, but it fits here too. As things stand now I'd go OLB, whoever is avail out of these in my opinion. Sergio Kindle, Jerry Hughes, Sean Witherspoon, Ricky Sapp (I omitted a couple names simply because I don't believe there's any way at all they fall to 29, or even a slot we could reasonably trade up to). Second round of these based on who's avail (I include a few guys who won't be avail in the late second simply because if the Jets do sign Taylor then DL should be the first round pick) Dunlap (won't fall that low in the second, doubt he survives the first), Everson Griffen (same as Dunlap), Odrick (same as Everson), Wooten, Linval Joseph, Austen Lane 4th round offensive line or Strong Safety Stucky if he's still available. Other rounds OL and DL depth picks, maybe a RB.
I would like to get: Round 1) One of the 3-4 type pass rushers (Brandon Graham would be ideal but I'm sure he would be gone). Someone with speed and versatility that Rex can develop in his system Round 2) Offensive Tackle, Tannenbaum has to make sure that we always have plenty of depth on the offensive line. Can't take a chance that if Damien Woody gets hurt that we have a huge hole on the line. Round 4) Secondary Depth
1) 300+ lbs. of back-up. Offense and defense. 2) Third running back, either Leon or a weekday draft pick. 3) Pass rusher.
u guys do know that we have 2 guys on our roster that could be surprises for us on defense, Rodrique Wright who is a 6-5 300 lb d-lineman, he was the 2nd rated d-lineman behind ngata in the draft a few years back but dropped down to the 7th cuz of a rotator cuff injury and i think a weed incident, he is 100 percent healthy now, and we have Ezra Butler , an outside linebacker , 6-2 250 lbs , what do u guys think of them, i think they can have an impact for us this year
