This is a cool exercise. I'd think the draft forum would get more play this time of year.

Obviously the odds are probably better than 7-2 that the Jets won't be picking at 29. But just to play along anyway if the 28 you list are accurate I would bet the farm the Jets would take Tebow at 29.

If we're shipping out Leon, that's a solid pick.

I can't see a defensive lineman aside from Cody who wouldn't be a big reach there, and I've permanently soured on Cody.

I think Everson Griffen is a poor fit for our defense. Hell of a talent, though.

I'd reach for Best, super-reach for Alualu or ultra-reach for Gerhart. Or trade down, preferably.

Well I am firmly in the Linval Joseph bandwagon, have been for a while, why change now?

He gives us the versatility we need up front, and you have to believe he is near the top of our board. I think we can slide down a handful of picks and still grab him, but no trades in this scenario.

Again good idea for an excercise Jabba! so much for an NFL team to weigh in only 10 minutes, and it gets far more difficult the longer the draft goes on, and the less time you have to make up your mind once the clock is on you!

The only thing that scares me about Linval Joseph, who might be the next Haloti Ngata, is the back injury. Fat men don't fully recover from back injuries. Ever. Ask Kris Jenkins or Shawn Andrews.

    ...just curious. Why?

Everson Griffen played the same position that Clay Matthews played at USC, and he was more productive.

The hybrid linebacker role that Griffen played at USC will really help him become an immediate contributor like Matthews was for the Packers.

I'm really high on any front seven player that comes out of Southern Cal. These guys are the best players in the country coming out of high school. They've competed against the best players in practice and they played under a coach that knows the NFL well.

very true... His back is a concern, but the way our entire offseason has played out, it appears we aren't about to let a little bit of a risk hold us back from the guys we really want. If the talent is there, we seem to be taking the approach that it will all work itself out in the end.

Between DL Linval Joseph and S Nate Allen for me... Allen is probably my favorite prospect of the draft, but given need, value, and potential, I'd take Linval Joseph at 29..

Also considered here... (In no real order)

    - Cam Thomas DT
    - Terrence Cody DT
    - Roger Saffold OG/OT
    - Devin McCourty CB
    - Kareem Jackson CB

Wow> What a nightmare situation. I'm revolving between Griffen, McCourty, Dunlap Jahvid Best, Charles Brown and Ducasse. Stuck between need and the the big board. Narrowing it down to Griffen and Dunlap. Griffen by a hair. Dunlap's more of a need but might be too much of a risk on this team. If our private investigators give the green light to Dunlap, my mind can be changed.

I have a very similar list minus Charles Brown. (I really like Brown as a zone blocking left tackle - we don't need one of those though)

Vlad Ducasse can play tackle and guard...two positions that we will eventually need to fill. Taking him at 29 would be a slight reach, but he'd certainly be a good choice.

Most people that visit the draft forum frequently know how I feel about Carlos Dunlap. I don't think he'll make it to us. ...too much potential.

I'm not too sure Everson Griffen will be around when we pick. The guy's a physical freak. If the Eagles decide to go defense in the first, he'll be their guy.

I think Griffen's pass rush repertoire leaves something to be desired and I'm not sure that will change at the next level. He's big enough and strong enough to dominate a good number of NFL tackles, but I think he'd be better off doing that from the LDE spot in a 4-3.

Personal bias on what kind of OLB the Jets need, I guess. Griffen could probably be a sound OLB, but I'd like a technician like Jerry Hughes, undersized though he may be; I'd like somebody with a passion for pass rushing. Griffen's got a passion for kicking ass, but for pass rushing? I'm not certain.

With the 29th pick in the NFL draft, Rexy's Sexies select:

    Everson Griffen
    : DE/OLB USC

With the 29th pick in the 2010 NFL draft, The New York Jets select-

Eric Berry via trade with Cleveland

Jets trade their 2010 first round pick, 2011 first round pick, 2010 6th round pick and leon washington for Clevelands #7 pick in the first round.

Base on the trade chart. the jets give up 1566 points for 1500 points. Very fair

I really think this would be a great move by our FO. Rex Ryan could use a Ed Reed in his defense. Berry would be the ball hawk in the secondary that we need and would round out our already stout defense. Would love to see what you guys think of this.

Read the rules, no trades. Also, this won't happen. If it did I would cum for hours.
