For the record, I think it was Todd McShay grading Woodson that high, and if that's who it was, then your'e correct, he's a moron. Mike Mayock however is usually really good.
We definetly need a Haloti Ngata type someone who can play both d-line positions in this defense to bad there isnt anyone in his league when it comes to talent in this draft. Linval Jospeth is someone who most think would be a good trade down option the 30's early 40's.
He's actually 31 already. He was 31 before the Super Bowl was played. He does indeed have 6 months on Jenkins, though, who won't be 31 until TC.
The Jets don't have a guy who lines up at all 3 spots on the Rex Ryan defense. Its time to have the guy similar to Ngata..... or, draft Pouncey. Trench warfare will be the difference to whether or not the Jets make it to the Bowl game... that and the QB.
That is the key. I think we really need to shore up both lines now. I almost wonder if we shouldnt use at least 4 of our picks on the lines. we need to add depth in our most vulnerable positions, the lines...
Dear Jack Bower, I sincerely apologize for not being perfectly clear in my failed attempt at sarcasm. In no way do I actually think that Rex Ryan will be lining up Jim Leonard's 5-8 170 lb frame at Nose Tackle this year. I was simply pointing out that Rex likes to use multiple fronts and formations, using players in a non-traditional way. By picking the smallest player on the defense, and sarcastically suggesting that Rex Ryan would line him up where the largest player on the defense should go, I figured that would be the most extreme fictitious example of Rex Ryans defensive creativity. I hope we can move past this now, and continue on as friends. Personally, I will use this error as a learning tool, and will try to grow from it. Again, I sincerely apologize for this critical blunder.
I considered starting a new thread asking this, but I think this is probably appropriate enough... Why haven't I come across anyone mentioning Brian Price as a possible pickup late in the 2nd, or as a possible pick should we trade back? What do you guys think? I think that the luxuries we've provided ourselves on offense make this entire draft about upgrading the front seven and the offensive line. I would even consider trading back out of our first round spot to acquire more roster depth in those departments. I think those people who think Jenkins is only 31 are forgetting about how many leg injuries he's had and how hard it is to carry around that kind of weight on anyone's joints. Pouha and Devito filled in nicely, but I think I'd like to groom someone with long term potential. -X-
Really, the only glaring needs we have is at FS and a pass rusher. The way the draft is shaping up though I don't see there being much value at either of those positions at the 29th spot. After those the DL and OL need youth/depth and will probably have the best value when we pick. It wouldn't surprise me at all though to see Mr. T trading up for Earl Thomas though who has Ed Reed written all over him. I agree with the premise of this thread though, NT is not a glaring need right now, only FS and PR are.
