Tate was obviously never in the jets plans... who cares about tate at this point, we don't know if he'll make a good pro compared to Holmes. It took a lot for me to say that.
price for Holmes is low because he will only play 12 games this season and he is a FA next year. Still a good move IMO though.
We do have Ladainian, but yeah all of those guys two were good, none were great. BTW, Sanchez must be loving this. No only will have have the LT Glide coming out of the backfield but now he'll have 3 really good receivers to throw to.
I was thinking the same thing. Sanchez won't be practicing for awhile and if Holmes doesn't get any time to familiarize himeself with Sanchez and comes back week 5 without any practice time with Sanchez throwing to him how long does it take for these guys to get comfortable with each other?
This looks like the future of the NFL. They evaluate free agents against the best players coming out of the draft. If the free agent is a proven commodity (even if he is a little long in the tooth i.e. Donovan Mcnab) you have to make the move. Too many teams have gotten burned by paying big money for guys with potential but get to the pros and get lazy because of their contracts or lack of skill at the next level (see JaMarcus Russell).
you saw the growing pains with Braylon and sanchez... you figure out how long it takes forthe chemistry to build. there is no timetable on chemistry..... I'm lying, it takes exactly 21 weeks for a WR and QB to create perfect chemisty, not including TCs and offseason private workouts. factor in some hangout time like XBOX or something and its reduced to 18 weeks. there's your answer. btw, he can play in the pre-season.
Holmes, Edwards, Cotchery, and Keller as receiving options. Greene and Tomlinson in the backfield. Best OLine in the game. Sanchez behind center. A defense improved from the league-leader of last year. When did I stop rooting for the Jets? This can't be the same team I've been following all these years.
At this point I don't put anything past Tanny. Knowing how he has been operating, I wouldn't put it past him to sign LC and then pick up Tate in the draft. This would load the shit out the receiving corps, and Clowney can go buh-bye. Tate gives us your fresh skills to develope. LC would be a great rotate in 4th WR for the slot and any special tricks Schotty can come up with, plus J-Co, & Edwards and you can start throwing out 5 receiver sets to really fuck with the other teams. This is going to be crazy. Fuck I wish it was august...
why? that makes little sense and creates a logjam at the WR salary and talent wise. I'm a ND fan, obviously, but its time to let Tate go. All of us... just let that dream die.
I think Tate is off the table. We need to go for a Pass rushing Defensive Lineman. If we get a consistent pass rush our defense will again be number one in the NFL. This will become valuable in the playoffs when you usually meet offenses that are rated in the top 10. This is the reason why they are looking at Jason Taylor (please!!! do not do it.).
The change in philosophy from the Hess years is amazing - he would never let the Jets go near anyone with any type of "character" issue due to his bullshit "family team" concept - I always felt this was a big part of the reason we haven't won in 40 years - of course there are always potential problems with these tpes of guys, but the potential upside here is huge. And how could you not do it for just a damn 5th rounder? Even if it doesn't work out, what did you lose?
