The bust Landry in exchange for the even bigger bust Gholston is something I would take in a heartbeat. One player who occasionally lays a big hit but can't cover a statue despite being incredibly athletic and the other being absolutely useless who probably can't tie his own shoes. Bottom line they both suck and I don't want either on the Jets lol.

It seems to me you need to go back and re read the article! YES the article is mostly about WASHINGTON but read this line until you finally understand:
"believed the New York Jets may end up being amongst the most active “buyers”, whether via trade or by way of attempting to sign a restricted free agent or two."

To make this more clear for ignorant people like you, they are saying Washington has many playeres who they are willing to trade. They say that the jets may end up being the most active "Buyers" in trading for these players.

That makes perfect since to me. Of course im probably dealing with a few high school drop outs on here who dont understand anything unless you draw a picture for them.

This is speculation. Nothing more. You can start getting indignant when you start finding concrete information that the Jets are actively pursuing these players as opposed to simply answering the phone and being polite enough not to hang up the second they find out who is calling.

Sorry. I must have missed the rule in the rule book that you can only make a post on this board if someone is about to sign or is signing with the jets.

You presented the thread as if the Jets are openly and actively pursuing Redskins players, backing it up with a source that only provides speculation of the Jets' involvement. Clam down and think about how you word these things and you won't get people jumping down your throat in these threads.

So, if Shanahan doesn't think Landry has the skills to play in a 3-4 that makes him a great fit for the Jets?

It depends on how Ryan wants to use him. He's clearly not going to be playing single-high in a coverage situation but if Ryan wants to continue using a safety as a blitzing option, you can't get much better than Landry.

The guy is fast, strong and a painful hitter. He would be a sick option out of the defensive backfield as a blitzing safety which would move Leonhard back into coverage. He may not be able to cover worth a damn but he can hurt some people.

What does the front 7 alignment have to do with the safety play?

It shouldn't be the front seven so much as it should be the defensive philosophy. We know Rex's system is an extremely aggressive defense that relies on a constant pressure to be effective. Someone like Landry could produce a good amount of pressure and sacks in Rex's defense. I have no idea what Shanahan's defense is going to look like since I cannot remember him ever running a base 3-4.

It's generally not a good idea to commit two rather egregious grammatical mistakes in the same sentence in which you malign my intelligence.

The title was misleading. Now it's not. The "Baseless Speculation" clause was added, which cleared things up considerably. The article has absolutely no support to go on; it's simply a collection of groundless rumors and ideas that come from UNINVOLVED TEAMS. They're simply guessing at what might happen based on Tanny's past proclivities. You should have approached the topic as such. Either way, it was fixed. I just didn't want other people taking your selective quoting at face value without understanding the context.

this is from Yahoo - was just on front page.

With trade and even some restricted free-agent chatter expected to pick up in the coming weeks, the Redskins appear to be the sellers. Conversely, the three personnel sources said they believed the New York Jets may end up being amongst the most active “buyers”, whether via trade or by way of attempting to sign a restricted free agent or two.

just more nonsense for your viewing pleasure

    Calm down.

This might as well been a bleacher report. It doesn't have much legs, so think twice before you start creating threads with misleading titles. If you don't like the rules here, you can stop posting. We all have the right to this board as long as we don't act like idiots. Mearly stating that you made a misleading title, only to have you get defensive means that you're likely going to have a tough time around here unless you can grow some thicker skin. Accept that it was a bad title, laugh about it, move on.

I clicked on it because I DID want to read about the topic in the thread title. Obviously, the possibility of Landry to the Jets interests me. I also didn't complain about the substance of the thread. All I said was that it was misleading, which it was, and you jumped all over me for it. As I said in my last post, the "Baseless Speculation" fixed it. "Rumor" would have sufficed as well.

It was a perfectly fine article to bring out, but you need to acknowledge that it's a few UNRELATED "personnel people" from OTHER teams pushing the idea without any substance behind it. The way it was originally presented put it out there as though it could have been personnel guys from the Jets and Redskins. It wasn't.

Laundry has been playing out of position since he was drafted. He is a SS playing FS and his coverage skills lack. He would be a SS in NY.
