Daryl Washington is a hell of a player. I doubt the Jets draft him, but Rex seems like smaller, more athletic inside backers that he can develop.

The way that he uses Bart Scott is genius. The guy's basically a lead blocker on defense. I feel like almost any type of linebacker could be successful next to him.

We don't need ILBs yet. David Harris is a hell of a player.

 

Corey Wooton

Northwestern defensive lineman Corey Wooton has visited the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs and the New York Jets, according to a source close to the program with knowledge of the situation.

Per our source, he has upcoming visits with the Cleveland Browns and the St. Louis Rams.

The versatile 6-foot-6, 270-pounder ran in the 4.8 range at his Pro Day workout. He could fit in well as a 3-4 defensive end and has even performed as a rush linebacker in positional drills for NFL teams.

Wooton improved on his time from the NFL scouting combine where he ran a 4.92.

Wooton, who tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the 2008 Alamo Bowl, was once regarded as a sure-fire first-round draft pick.

Now, he has battled his way back to the point where he's expected to go in the second round, according to draft analysts.

Wooton had a prolific career at Northwestern with 156 career tackles, 38 tackles for losses and 19 1/2 sacks.

This past season while coming off the knee injury, Wooton recorded 21 tackles, six for losses and four sacks.

He intercepted four career passes.

In 2008, prior to the injury, he posted 42 tackles, 16 for losses and 10 sacks.

At the combine, Wooton bench pressed 225 pounds 20 times, turned in a 32-inch vertical leap and had a 9-foot broad jump.

If the Jets end up signing Jason Taylor, Wootton could be developed behind him.

I know Wootton is about fifteen pounds heavier, but he's incredibly athletic plus he's performed well standing up.

A lot of people seem to think of Wootton as a 3-4 end, and I don't see him fitting into that role. He's a pass rusher.

I think his best fit is in the 4-3 at end, but I wouldn't be upset if the Jets took him at the back end of the second and used him as a jumbo-sized hybrid end/linebacker.

 

This is why Washington seems odd to me - I mean, he seems like a great Tampa LB, but considering where he's going to be picked, he wouldn't exactly a great developmental LB. I totally agree about Bart and Harris, so I just don't get why we brought in Washington - unless - and I know you're going to love this thought, E - it was to get a little info on Hughes.

 

Maybe they are expecting him to fall further than most people think. Or they're just using him as a scout evaluation.

 

Jason Worilds

Virginia Tech outside linebacker-defensive end Jason Worilds recently visited the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.

Worilds is a hybrid pass rusher who could fit in as a situational rusher or could transition well as a 3-4 outside linebacker candidate.

Worilds declared for the draft following his junior season.

He was named second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference, registering 49 tackles, 11 for losses, 4 1/2 sacks, one forced fumble and 32 quarterback hurries.

With his eye-catching speed off the edge, Worilds has been projected everywhere from the second round to the third round by draft analysts.

Worilds had an impressive Pro Day workout last month, running the 40-yard dash between 4.47 and 4.55 seconds for a 4.51 average.

The 6-foot-1, 254-pound pass rusher turned in a 4.07 in the 20-yard shuttle and a 9-10 broad jump.

Worilds performed defensive line drills for the Carolina Panthers and linebacker drills for a Pittsburgh Steelers assistant.

Worilds stood on the rest of his numbers from the NFL scouting combine where he ran a 4.65 and bench pressed 225 pounds 24 times and posted a 38-inch vertical leap.

Kyle Wilson

Boise State cornerback Kyle Wilson has upcoming visits next week with the Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens and the St. Louis Rams, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.

Wilson has previously visited the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers and the San Diego Chargers.

Wilson is one of the fastest-rising draft prospects.

He excelled during the Senior Bowl, and he had strong Pro Day workout.

Wilson ran the 40-yard dash between 4.39 and 4.43 seconds and registered a 38-inch vertical leap and a 10-2 broad jump.

Wilson intercepted three passes last season, returning two for scores.

As a junior, Wilson recorded five interceptions.

"Everybody wants to have that label as a shutdown guy who can take away certain receivers and their side of the field and not have quarterbacks throw their way," Wilson said in a telephone interview. "I definitely see myself as one of them. I can play with anybody.

"The only thing I can control is doing the things I do and making plays. I have put together a body of work. I will take my chances against anybody. I know I can play."

Wilson has been rated as the second-ranked cornerback behind University of Florida standout Joe Haden, but he doesn't see it that way.

"I know I'm the best out there," Wilson said. "I just look for the opportunity to show that. I can just show my personality and my athleticism. I just go through the process and I enjoy it.

"I just really like making plays, taking receivers out of the play completely and making big hits. I can do it all and I love to do it all."

while that just confirms my opinion of Joseph, and Jabba clearly is behind Bradnt's opinion, that doesn't mean everyone should take his word as gospel...

I think Gil Brandt is talking about 1st round talent.

The problem is that first round talent is a unit of measure used in every draft which doesn't take into account how good that draft is.
A guy chosen in the early second round this year could have easily been chosen in last years first round.

This year there are more than 32 players with first round talent!!! But it's only possible to draft 32 of them so the others will fall in rd 2... and to me Joseph will be selected somewhere in the top 15-20 of rd 2. This is how good this draft is.

 

Are there any quality highlights/lowlights out there on Joseph? I can't get a damn East Carolina torrent anywhere!
