Two innings in a row Manuel has a non-pitcher bunt with a runner on first and no outs. The first time was to bring up Henry fucking Blanco. I can't stand this.
2-3 against the bottom dregs of the East. guess it is pretty obvious who actually is the bottom of the bottom.
I'm highly impressed by that one game lead over the Braves in our shit division. second place ain't all that impressive in the East, it just means you were better than the Mets and Nationals and barely better than the Braves, none of which were any real threat for the playoffs.
Johan lets up a first-inning grand slam and gets boo'd by Mets fans. Starting to think that even the fans deserve this franchise's trainwreck.
the only thing wrong with the booing is that it means these morons are supporting one of the worst franchises in sports, stop going to the games, jackasses.
exactly. this franchise is such a fucking joke. they have a GM that thinks you build a team by signing one big free agent every other year but surrounding them with garbage, and an owner too fucking stupid to know the difference. taking Jason Bay for example. he is an above average player not worth what they paid for him, but what is the point of spending $60 million on any one player if you surround him with players like Pagan and Barrajas. either develop young players or build through free agency with a plan. the Mets do neither and just sign a big name player every few years and then fill the rest of the roster spots with bums.
Livan Hernandez? Really? Really? This team might be worse than last years. Minaya: "Oh, yeah, we just hope everyone plays up to the abilities WE think they have and we'll be just fine." Fuck you Omar, you're a joke. I'm watching golf over baseball, WOW!
It's 6 games into the season. I think they're going to suck, but come on guys. You have to give it a month I think.
I don't think so. this team is already showing that they aren't any better than last year and it isn't as if they upgraded anywhere in the lineup to assume they will be better down at any point during the season. bad team last year + no improvements made during the offseason = as bad or worse a team this year. don't need to wait a month to know that.
Considering we're only seeing the team without 2 of its starters, I don't think you can conclude that. And while for the most part I agree with your evaluation of the team, if you feel that strongly about it already there's really no reason to follow the team whatsoever until something changes, so I'm not sure why you're posting in this thread.
I'll post in this thread because I'll do as I please. if our criteria for how and why I someone should follow this team don't coincide, simply ignore my posts.
I know what this team needs. THey need to start playing Rex Ryan baseball. This team has no fire. The most I've seen out of it in years was when franky told dontrelle willis to shut the fuck up today.
I think it's pretty telling what direction this team is going in. The management seems to have done no scouting whatsoever since 2006. They had a barren bench last season when injuries struck, and their remedy for it was to sign Gary Matthews Jr and Mike Jacobs, who, according to WAR, were among the two worst players in baseball last season. Worse, they're starting both over Pagan and Carter, who are superior at their worst. Only the Kansas City Royals are as inept as the Mets when it comes to roster construction. I had this team pegged for .500, and I know it's early, but they only saw 120 pitches against LIVAN HERNANDEZ and the Nationals bullpen. This is extremely disconcerting. Unless Beltran comes back in the next two or three weeks raking, I think this is a 90 loss team. -X-
