What section in the CBA deals with the June 1st Tenders for vets? Is it something more than a 1 year contract for a 110% increase?

I agree that it seems very unlikely that he would sign for under $2 million, but the problem is that the only way the Jets can get him is if he doesn't sign with anyone before July 22 and the Saints don't offer the tender at $1.87 million. Since they would want him back at that price, if he doesn't sign with someone else by June 1 it's hard to see any reason why they wouldn't offer him that tender, and if that happens the Final 8 rules mean that the Jets can't sign him, even if he doesn't sign the tender.

If he's a free game UFA on July 23rd, then can't teams outbid each other for a player?

I believe that the Jets are unlikely to secure a FS of the future in this years draft. The only ones that i think have a 5-star future are Berry and Thomas, and they will both be gone before 29.

Sharper would be an instant upgrade over Pool, he is one of the smartest players in the NFL imo, and he still has a few years of productivity left. I really hope that this happens.

Someone confirm this for me. I don't understand any of this shit, and I read this entire thread.

After July 22nd we can sign any UFA if they have not had been tendered, or signed a contract with a team?

And if we can..are we able to offer them any amount of money we wish?

that sounds right but every time i think i understand these rules i end up being wrong so i wouldn't be surprised if its more complicated than that.

Yes, but it's likely to just be Final 8 teams who do so after that.

There's nothing stopping another team from bidding on a guy before July 22nd. People hoping for post-July 22nd signings need to look at guys whose contracts were ridiculous last season. Anyone with a low number and gas in the tank will be gone or tendered by then.

Hopefully Sharper will hang around, and wait for us.

Again, that's not enough - New Orleans has to also not want him for one year at $1.87 million (what he wants is beside the point). Since that seems impossible, this is all moot in all likelihood.
