You seem to have forgotten Anthony Davis. http://www.newyorkjets.com/blog/posts/1578-college-prospects-visiting-the-jets-complex
Thanks!! Players visiting with Jets: Toby Gerhart, RB, Stanford Devin McCourty, CB, Rutgers Ryan Mathews, RB, Fresno St Corey Peters, DT, Kentucky Mike Iupati, OG, Idaho Ray Fisher, CB, Indiana Patrick Robinson, CB, Florida State Terrence Cody, NT, Alabama Jared Odrick , DL, Penn St Ricky Sapp, OLB, Clemson Kevin Haslam, OT, Rutgers Major Wright, S, Florida Montario Hardesty, RB, Tennessee Sean Lissemore, DT, William & Mary Daryl Washington, LB, TCU Kareem Jackson, CB, Bama Maurkice Pouncey, OG/C, Florida Steve Maneri, TE, Temple Mickey Shuler, TE, PSU Jahvid Best, RB, Cal Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers David Reed, WR, Utah
Thanks for the link!! I like Reed...but only had one productive year. Late Round pick 6/7, I'd have no issue.
Mmm... let's break it down position-wise: 4 CB + 1 S: McCourty, Jackson, Robinson, Fisher + Wright 4 RB: Mathews, Best, Gerhart, Hardesty 4 OL: Davis, Haslam, Iupati, Pouncey 4 DL: Cody, Peters, Odrick, Lissemore 2 blocking TE: Shuler, Maneri 2 OLB: Sapp, Washington Only one WR and a late rounder... I guess this pretty much explains in what areas the Jets want to get better via draft... I'm surprised we didn't bring in more mid-rounds WRs... guys like Shipley, Roberts and Sanders could fit in very well in what we are trying to build on O.
I don't buy that for a second. Since we know what players are visiting the Jets so do other teams. You can't use these visits as an indication as to who the Jets are going to draft because that's just not smart business.
I know some teams plan visits with prospects they aren't interested in but how stupid is that!? Don't tell me teams don't know Rex loves DBs, we need a RB if we trade Leon, our DL is old and so are our starting RT and LG, oh and also an upgrade at OLB would be nice. The only surprise to me is we aren't bringing in any high profile WR (who have a very high bust rate and thus should be examined closely before drafting them)... I thought we would have at least taken a look closely at guys like Tate and Williams.
Source: Nate Byham to visit the Ravens Aaron Wilson, The National Football Post Apr 1, 10:25 am EDT http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?sl...sit_the_ravens_html-201041&prov=nfp&type=lgns A former All-Big East Conference selection, Byham has visited the Pittsburgh Steelers and conducted a private workout for the New York Jets. Byham is a three-year starter at Pitt who ran the 40-yard dash in 4.91 seconds and registered a 31 1/2 inch vertical leap and a 9-10 broad jump at his Pro Day workout. He caught a career-high 20 passes for 260 yards and a touchdown two seasons ago. With the emergence of all-purpose tight end Dorin Dickerson as a receiving threat last season, Byham was primarily utilized as a blocker last season. The 6-foot-4, 268-pounder is regarded as one of the top blocking tight ends in the draft. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Looks like the Jets are considering a blocking TE with a later round pick. This visit got overlooked...it was listed under the Ravens.
^ Byham is exactly what this offense needs...if he's there in the later rounds, it'd be a great move. He'll be very valuable in this league as a blocking tight end.
Teams can schedule 30 players to visit before the draft, why not use the time to evaluate the scouts?
You're on the money. Jet's have really been concentrating on looking at blocking TEs. Shuler or Byham would be fine choices.
If I had to put money on it, Shuler Jr. will be the guy that Rex Ryan goes after. If both guys are on the board Micky Shuler Jr. will be a New York Jet. Either will be a great fit here - I think both prospects along with Hoomanawanui are the best blocking tight ends in this draft.
I have to agree, Shuler's pedigree would make him an instant fan favorite. Everyone talks about Shuler's blocking, his strenght, but he would be a nice safety value for Sanchez if the play breaks down.

Does Daryl Washington seem like a fish out of wter to anyone else? Also, we get 30 visits PLUS area players right? And, as a corollary: who counts as an "area player"? Rutgers, Hofstra, certainly, but does Penn state? Temple?
