Jets embrace possibility of signing free agent Jason Taylor Here's what Shaun Ellis, Woody, and Calvin Pace said today. edit: by the way janesports via twitter
Parcells handles the roster though, and if Miami mostly uses their LBs as run stoppers rather than pass rushers Parcells isn't going to be that high on JT. Also, if you don't think Parcells is involved at every level of dolphin decision making, including helping to devise the defensive schemes, you don't know the man very well.
God, I love this part. I have been saying this fucking shit ever since the season ended and people were jacking off to the #1 defensive rank, saying we should stand pat on the D-line.
if we could sack the QB with 4 people, and drop everybody back this defensive would create so many fucking scores, and turnovers. it'd be unreal. im about to give myself a good ol' rub down to this thought.
I don't know why Parcells didn't offer him a contract I also can't explain why Parcells signed Rick Mirer in our Super Bowl to be be Vinny's backup. Or why for the most part his drafts with the Jets were on par with teh Lions.
Taylor doesn't have to sign on the dotted line if he doesn't want to. He may not have many options right now...but wait till TC when some big time pass rusher goes down and is out for an extended period of time. He'll have plenty of suitors calling his agent. Judging by the kind of guy Taylor is..He'd likely love that as he'd be able to skip all off season work-outs and basically just "plug and play" once he signs a deal. In my opinion, he isn't considering signing with the jets as a "Last resort" and just cause his agent is forcing him. is it possible? Sure..and if that's the case...I'm with ya..lets pass on the guy. But I don't think that is the case here. I think Taylor is intrigued by the prospect of being in the NY spotlight, playing for Rex and the chance to win a super bowl. Otherwise, he'd have his feet up waiting for Miami or some basement dwellar to sign him sometime in mid August.
this is my point....he told his agent that he was willing to wait this out and see what happens after the draft....but his agent convinced him to hear Rex/Tanny's sales pitch. I don't think he's intrigued at all.....i think he's doing his due dilligence to drum up a market for himself. If there was mutual interest and he believed no other teams were showing interest...he would've signed by now.
I hate the dude, but the fact is we need to develop more pass rush without sending everyone and the kitchen book at the offense, I mean if it means bringing a hated dolphin to come play for us then so be it, as long as he doesn't act like a spy for the Dolphins I won't mind, I myself hate Jason Taylor but the things he brings to the table can really help us, at this point we need all the help we can get But Tanny has to still draft a pass-rusher in this draft, we still need to get younger, fuck this 3 year window, we need to get younger and still compete so just in case things don't work out the way we all hope we still have hope for the future and can still contend
this is exactly how the LT thing went down. the similarities to the two situations are numerous and LT didn't sign right away but he eventually decided he wanted to be here. just because he isn't signed yet doesn't mean that he has no interest in doing so.
LT wanted to come for the NY visit/sales pitch......Taylor wasn't open to it until his agent forced him to go. that's the difference.
Holy shit, you just completely changed my perspective on this. I was ecstatic to have Clemens. I guess Pace was right, I'll be happy if he's Jet... Have people really said we shouldn't change anything on the defensive line? That's a bit <insert insulting term here>.
Hey guys i dont know if it was posted but im listening to Sid Rosenberg down here in miami and he was talking about him exchanging text messages with zach thomas. Sid said that Zach believes that Jason will sign with the Jets, Jason's wife is zach thomas's sister. Take it with a grain of salt, just thought id share.
Most time in terms of drafting, people have said that Devito and Pouha (in addition to Jenkins returning) gave us the ability to ignore the DL... because of the #1 defensive ranking. Never taking into account that we had to send 2 LBs and a safety most times to ever get any pressure.
If signing Taylor will bring us a Sb I say go for it. U play to win the game and if Taylor is the best fit then bring him in!
Signing Jason Taylor will not 'bring us a Sb'. Signing Jason Taylor will give us a better 4 man rush.
Pace, Jenkins, Taylor, Ellis, who do you double? For the record, I still hate Taylor but am seeing through the smoke to see what Rex envisions.
A very important piece of the Sb Puzzle! With a great pass rush from our line added too our corners being able to play man on man and our other blitzers our defense gets scarier by the minute. A team will bring us to the Sb and ours will be much better with him.
I really would have no problem if Jason Taylor's plane crashed on his way back to Miami. He is an absolute scrub and for everyone single one of you that would want that piece of trash on this team I have to question your loyalty. He basically spit in the Jets and the fan base for 13 years, now you want this homo wearing green and white? I would rather go through the next 25 years of my life watching the Jets get close and be one piece away from winning a superbowl then that asshole in the ganggreen. F him.
It's just business man. It's time for the Jets to make smart and not emotional decisions to win a championship.
