the man missed 6 kicks all year and at least 2-3 were blocked/bad snaps/holds. He was great for us.

I love how the #s are black and white, he missed ONE makeable kick, on the first drive of a game. His 2nd of 2 msises was from 52 yards away.

He was average. Wasn't even in the top 50 percentile.
He misses in prefect conditions with the minimal amount of pressure possible in a playoff game and you think that bolsters his image?
Because it's completely unreasonable to ask a kicker to make a 52 yard kick in the playoffs?

I think most teams would expect their kicker to make a 52 yarder indoors in the Championship Game.

I thought Jay Feely was great for us, sure that 52 yard'r would've been nice but nobody is perfect.

Jay talked about that kick and said the timing was wrong from the start.

I'm sad to see him go, I'll never forget those punts where he pinned them twice inside the 20.

the biggest kick he had was at SD down 7-0 and he nialed it. He missed ONE makeable kick, I'll take that.

52 yards is a crapshoot, it's unfair to expect Vinatieri to make a 52 yarder and we expect it to be automatic for Feely? AV in his career is 45% from 50+ but Feely should be better than that?

what other kicker kicked a 52 yarder in the title game? You are being unfair, those kicks are at best a 50/50 deal and he nailed one from 48. His kick against SD was bigger than any kick he missed in the title game.

I feel like I need to quote myself regarding his kickoffs. We have a dominant defense. Feely was not getting it done on kickoffs. And no, 30 for 36 is not good, its OK. And don't give me excuses, as all kickers have excuses.

How many touchdowns did we have last year? Also what is the average amount of TD's throughout all 32 teams?

I'm only worried, because Mark Sanchez is still young, and may not be able to get the ball in the endzone. Feely was a 'good' kicker. Folk used to be considered a 'great' kicker. It's concerning how Folk completely dropped the ball this past season.

Do you really think the Jets should settle for Jay Feely, a career journeyman, as being the best kicker in franchise history? Do you really think that the Jets could not find a better kicker out there? Do you think that Jay Feely is one of the top kickers in the league? If you answered yes to any of those questions you are delusional.

i didn't want to get rid of him but now that he is gone it's not that hard to see he won't be a big loss. he was better than either of those two kickers but folk will be a better kicker than either of those two as well.

As clutch as Adam Vinatieri was in the playoffs, he never hit one from 52 yards or longer in the postseason. Ever.

He's also an 82.0% career FG kicker. Feely is at 81.6%. Just a tiny difference.

Just comparing their toughest kicking homes...in New England, Vinatieri was 263/321 for 81.9%.

In his 2 stints at the Meadowlands, by some accounts the 2nd or 3rd hardest place to kick in the NFL, Feely was 112/133 for 84.2%. It's silly to suggest he wasn't good for us. IMO, Rackers would have been a downgrade.

And Adam Vinatieri missed a 31 yard field goal in the Carolina superbowl, also had a kick blocked.Kickers will miss field goals,it happens. You have to hope that when the game is on the line that they will come through.

Did I say he wasn't good or did I say he was average? I think I said he was average, mostly because he is average. Otherwise he wouldn't be on his 5th team in 11 seasons. I didn't want to get rid of him but I'm not going to ball my eyes out because he is gone.
Which, in the AFCC, he didn't. Twice.

That's an unfair assumption. He's been better than Neil Rackers in WORSE conditions, and yet Rackers is only on his 3rd team in 11 seasons and was just replaced by Feely. Feely will be just as good if not better than Rackers in Arizona.

I'm curious, what does "above average" mean? David Akers is a career 81% FG kicker, and I'd say he's a good kicker. Gary Anderson was at 80.6% for his career. Jason Elam? 81.2% career. Morten Anderson? 79.7%

Again, Feely is at 81.6%. I guess he's average just like Anderson, Andersen, Elam, etc....
