In an uncapped year, it seems ludicrous that we couldn't stretch to his demands, or even attempt to meet him. I doubt what we are saving is going to help out down the road.

Is it possible we can bring in a high end FA that we sign a low first year contract with heavy incentives? I don't know how the final eight rule works exactly but many Tanny needed to lose someone to pick up another FA in the works. Maybe it just happened to be Feely.

I do believe it's based on salary, but I think a signing bonus is counted into that first year salary. maybe they could put a incentive in for showing up to the facility after his first season is over. lol

    I'm not 100% sure though-

well, so much for Rackers, Folk better pan out now - nothing like a little extra pressure to really help a kicker thrive.

Yep. I may prefer Folk to Rackers, but Feely may well be a better fit for our team than either one. For now, I just have to trust in Chris Sailer's ability to bring Folk back. If he fails, though, we're in trouble.

You would have to get someone to sign on for some incentives that he's probably never going to see to use incentives to escape the F8P. It's unlikely we can stretch that salary unless it's a long term deal with a significant signing bonus and he wants the guaranteed money.

Just throwing this into the melting pot.

Such is our penchant for signing Chargers right now....If Kaeding were available?........

It doesn't matter how good of a year you have, if you blow it in the last game of the year as a kicker, you're done. See Brien, Feely.

I believe another reason he was shown the door was his weak kickoffs. It's been said before, but people keep seeming to forget this point.

what feely did was nothing close to what Brien did. feely missed one makeable kick on the first drive of the game, brien missed TWO makeable kicks in the final minutes that cost us the game.

I think Shayne Graham is still available, wouldn't mind bringing him in to compete with Folk during TC. Although, I still haven't the faintest idea why we even got rid of Feely in the first place.

The Jets gave him the offer they thought was fair and he decided to go with an overblown self-evaluation. How the board can get this pissy over a journeyman kicker is beyond me. Nor can I understand why everyone seems to think that Folk is our only option when we have the draft and UDFAs coming up in a couple of weeks.

they gave the guy a paycut off a great season, that wasn't a fair offer.

When you look at all the factors here nothing about letting Feely walk seems to make any sense.
Was it $?-No because he is making about the same as he did last year.

Was it attitude?-No, he was loved by his team mates.

Was it production?- Besides those misses in the playoffs he had a really good 2 years with us.

This is all so perplexing to me. Sometimes i really think you can get too "cute" and start messing with success.

83% is a great season? That's right up there with Doug Brien, and it's a DECLINE from his production in the past two seasons. Your years as a SOJF have clearly lowered your standards.

Folk would be an odd choice to replace him, then. His kickoffs have been even worse. The guy only has 4 TBs over his career.

83% is a much better number in NY than in most places.

It's still not good enough. Also, he was 60% in the playoffs in great weather and a dome.
