It's because he lacks ideal height. He certainly has the ability to be a hell of a rotational end in our scheme though...his motor is ridiculous.
But didn't he destroy as a 3-tech at the senior bowl? If everything that I have heard from Mayock and others is true, then it seems as though 3-tech would be better for him.
Yeah, he had a great week at the Senior Bowl...but he also had a great season as a 3-4 end at Cal. Versatility is huge in our defense. Alualu could line up in multiple positions in some of Ryan's schemes.
That's what I was kind of thinking. Rex would use him as some sort of hybrid D-lineman that would put him all over the place with our DEF. Put him at DE obviously and have him go after the QB mouth foaming. Switch him and Jenkins confuse the O-line or drop him back into OLB and bum rush. who knows what else Rex is a fuckin genius.
Great point. I didn't even think of that. Ryan could use him like he used Ngata in Baltimore. Not saying that Alualu is going to be as successful but if he can play both then he would be a great weapon for Rex.
Mickey Shuler playing Te for the Jets again would be awesome, watched him play at PSU, same # as his dad.
Jets, Eagles to check out Temple tight end Temple tight end Steve Maneri will meet with the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets this week, the 22-year-old told us during a recent podcast. The 6’6”, 275-pound tight end caught 12 passes for 134 yards and two touchdowns in 2009. Maneri finished his four-year career at Temple with nine scores on only 38 total receptions. One of the top-blocking tight ends in the country, Maneri is expected to be used primarily in pass protection at the next level. At 275 pounds, there is some talk of the senior bulking-up and possibly moving inside to play offensive tackle. In addition to meeting with the Jets and Eagles, Maneri worked out for the New York Giants last week. http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Jets-Eagles-to-check-out-Temple-tight-end.html&team=95
I've heard a lot about this guy moving to tackle. He'd be an interesting developmental pick in the 6th or 7th.
