And this article just re-enforces the fact that J-Co is the man.

I think the thing that I marvel the most at about Rex's 2009 season is that he brought 3 UDFA players that he coached up in Baltimore over to the Jets and they were the key in how the Jets' top ranked defense performed last season.

Rex Ryan, for all of his faults, could be the best defensive coach in the entire league.

I wouldn't say "the key", and I wouldn't consider Douglas a "key" part of our defense in any way. If anyone was key last season, it was the All Mighty. Everyone else played their roles well, with the lone exception of Rhodes.

Douglas may not have been the top performer on the DL, or anything close to it, but what he brought to the classroom may have been even more important to the success of the defense than what he brought to the field. That's why Ryan brought him here, if only for a 1 year contract. The other DL players got to pick his brain for the important parts.

Exactly, Rex's goal was to bring a guy in that knew his system at each level of defense. I think by accomplishing that the transition was that much easier.

Too bad Hollywood didn't catch on, if he wasn't so damn sensitive he could've really been special in this defense.

It baffles the mind that someone with Kerry Rhodes' talent could shut it off so quickly and try to live on reputation. I think that's the part that offends me so much about him.

Kris Jenkins could fall asleep on the field and still be a handful for two blockers.

i like how they say they would still hate him if he was their coach when the only reason they really have to hate him is shit he has done since becoming our coach. all very immature and unprofessional on the way to that afc championship game.

I'll admit that Rex did do some pretty fucked up things leading up to the AFC Championship but if the players react to it positively then who the hell cares. The guys on that board are just arrogant and obnoxious. If they didn't hate Ryan I'd say he wasn't doing his job.

I think they're clearly rationalizing their jealousy that such a great coach ended up at a division rival (when they could've hired him themselves) by claiming they would much rather have Sparano anyway. Ask any impartial NFL fan who they'd rather have as their coach - Rex or Sparano. I'm quite certain it would be like 98% Rex.

absolutely this is a completely different defense without revis. i hate the names you call him but he is absolutely the key to everything that defense does.
