Adam Vinatieri signed a 5 year, $12million contract with the Colts on March 23, 2006.

Stephen Gostkowski was drafted by the New England Patriots on April 30, 2006.

So really, the Patriots didn't have anyone waiting in the wings when Vinatieri walked.

There's still that whole draft thing that's going on later this month. How the Hell is everyone freaking out like this over a fucking kicker? It's not like we just lost a Vinatieri-like player in his prime. Shit, we barely lost a John Hall-like player so it's not going to be impossible to replace him. Wait until the draft before you shit yourselves over Folk being on the roster.

Should have just re-signed Feely. Better safe than sorry.

I really didn't want to worry about kicker and punter but what are you gonna do?

Not exactly. Folk was consistently lighting it up for 2-1/2 years, then absolute shit for half a season. Not really a choke artist, and he's shown he can be a great kicker. Rackers on the other hand, is a choke artist and I'm glad we didn't sign him.

Rex's locker room and the Cowboys' locker room are like night and day. I think this will be a good environment for Folk to get his confidence back.

If our defense is as good as I think it will be next year, we could have fricken Ochocinco as our fieldgoal kicker and still win games.

Whoever called the kicker situation a clusterfuck was on the money. kudos

Kind of makes you wonder what we'd be talking about right now if we were indeed able to re-sign Feely.

Folk has a higher career FG% than Rackers. His "inconsistency" came from a season in which Jones rushed him back from injury and fucked up his mechanics. He has since corrected the problem.

When Rackers last played for a poor weather team (the Bengals), he was a 65.6% kicker over a 3 year period.

Folk's percentage kicking in poor weather stadiums: 76%, again including his injury season last year. Prior to last season? 16/19 for an 84% average.

Feely's percentage in poor weather stadiums the past two seasons? 82% So, again, it depends on how you feel about the fact that Folk was injured last season. If you excuse that because he's worked on the problem, it's not a drop off.

Janikowski was just as bad in 2000 as Husted was in 1999, and most Raiders fans thought he could be the worst pick in NFL history. In 2000, the Raiders won 4 games by less than a TD. Janikowski kicked well in one of them (5-6). In the others, he was 0 - 1, 2 - 4, and 2 - 4 and blew chances to put the games away. HE didn't win them.

Oh, and Janikowski's career FG% is lower than Folk's...but Folk is so much more inconsistent than he is, right?

Those were some futuristic, palm reader wings.

Good! After watching him blow big kicks on turf, I really didn't want to see him outdoors. Give Folk a shot, and sign a UFA after the draft to compete.

If we are all arguing about who the KICKER is going to be, we must have a pretty solid team! I like it!

I find it amazing that with all the sports in the world that involve kicking a ball, that so few GOOD kickers are about.

I don't like Racker at all. I will take my chances with Folk, he was good 2 years ago. Rackers is a choke

There was no way the Jets were going to spend more than 2mil per year after lowballing Feely.

I wasn't expecting us to get him anyway. I wanted Feely back. Only way we would have got him was if he wanted to stick it to Arizona.

I'm ok giving Folk a try, I think he has a high ceiling but mentally he has alot to overcome. It's a shame we let feely go over pennies(in NFL dollars) but time to move on.

There's no such thing as lowballing a kicker.

There is when the Raiders retardedly raise the market for one. No way Rackers should have gotten 2.1 mil from any team.
