He didn't have a .300 OBP in 2008 either. He's a bad hitter who when he overperforms is merely average. I don't my clean-up hitter to be average at best. Not sure where you have this idea that he used to be good--except for when he was called up in '05, he's been pretty underwhelming. Oh, and opening day! Very exciting, even if the Mets appear to suck.
I haven't felt this poorly about an opening day lineup since the Mets sent Karim Garcia out as their opening day right fielder. This is really an insult to people who were told they were going to see a reduction in their ticket prices and a better product. The Mets told us they were going to get younger, faster, and more exciting and they're trotting out the oldest, most defensively deficient lineup they have in years. It's really an embarrassing day to be a Mets fan. On the plus side, it appears as if Manuel is digging his own grave. Be honest...how many of you KNEW Matthews would be starting over Pagan when we made that trade? -X-
Going to miss my first opening day since the 1990's... very sad. Shade, 17a, and the crew will have to keep the fire burning for me! LGM!
Sad to say as a Mets fan, but I don't count on much from Santana this year. I wouldn't be shocked if he misses a bunch of time and is really lacking the velocity. I think he'll win 12 games, but he's not a given. His WHIP has risen steadily over the last 4 years, and his K/9 are way down over the last two years. -X-
I've been trying to find one, no luck. Edit: I just downloaded MLB at-bat 2010 for the Iphone/ipod touch. It's a $15 app but includes audio for all games.
