League Insiders ?? Hmmm another phrase for gossip no doubt. This is a Cimini article. I think if anything that we will trade up in the draft, if that involves a player / + picks remains to be seen. I sincerely hope we don't start giving picks away though.
darn it all you got me by 3 minutes... either way, Tanny is certainly uber-agressive, but I feel like cimini is just stirring up trouble with no basis behind it. Other than signing Marshall to an offer sheet, there isnt any RFA out there we want or need that would be reasonable for the price tag. However, it could be us moving a guy like Leon or one of our other RFA's...
What I thought too, is Cimini just trying to make news here. I do think that Leon will be gone though, so maybe the league 'insiders' are referring to that. If that is the case, maybe we are looking to get a package to move up from 29. Ironic if we did, given that Leons # is 29
Not a surprise, there have been question marks on a number of RFAs of ours and on other teams for a while. Not a shocker that some of these question marks would be cleared up before the deadline of restricted free agents...
1.25 million and the jets are gonna make a big splash... just don't see it. if they aren't gonna go after marshall this is gonna be about as big a splash as an anorexic girl's cannonball.
it must be nice to have this type of job. he didn't feel like actually doing work so he referenced some "nfl sources" and just wrote a bunch of bullshit.
Right now I'm acting as if we are going to trade up. I just have a feeling that someone is going to fall (Bryant? Thomas?) and Tanny's going to move up for him. This becomes even more likely if we lose Leon for some draft ammo. If we have 3 picks in the first 2 rounds I would just wait and take the best player available but knowing Tanny...
hopefully this "big splash" doesn't actually involve the FA pool, but relates to re-signing one of our own guys (Revis, Mangold, etc)
I don't think landing Rackers would be a big splash, more like throwing a quarter into a wishing well.
It's nearly impossible to restructure a players contract this off season. The uncapped year is in the owners favor since no player with less then 6 years service is unrestricted and you basically can't restructure a players contract. Every team in the league would leave to give their top young players a big second contract with no salary cap this year but the rules won't let you. Pretty smart by the owners and stupid by the players.
Would be sort of a waste for our 3-4 defense, to be frank. We need our guys to occupy blockers and hold at the point of attack. Suh wouldn't really make sense for us. -X-
this article is bs. the only splashes would be marshall or sharper and im 99% that neither will happen. the only thing worth doing if your tanny is trading down, stocking up on picks in this deep draft. and getting good value talent and depth
I actually don't see us making any big splashes in the rest of Free Agency or the Draft. I'm actually expecting a boring night of the first round as I expect us to even drop back if possible.
Suh is the prototypical 3-4 end. IMHO, it would be a waste of value to trade up for him, but to call him a waste for the 3-4 defense is ignorant.
Yep, although we're getting to the point at which teams start dropping demands for some of their players. Still, I can't really see a realistic acquisition that would be a big splash and still strike me as a good one. I guess I'll just wait and see...
