I honestly think Folk might beat him out in TC.

Actually, Nick Folk has always kicked indoors since he's only played in Dallas. Rackers has been on two teams with open stadiums - Cincy and Arizona.

I still think Folk is the better option though. I guess if Rackers is signed, we'll have two proven kickers to compete for the job...can't go wrong with that.

    Why?

Also, Cro was a big upgrade, and Pool saved a ton of money compared to Rhodes while bringing back a pick.

Sign Rackers. He has a big leg and was great a few years back, and if anybody can get his head right, it's Westhoff.

Rackers would be a great signing. I like Folk, but putting all your eggs in one basket isn't a great idea. I'm a little surprised they opt for Rackers over Feely, but it really isn't that big of a deal, and Rackers is a good kicker, a better one than Feely each of the past two seasons.

The Rackers thing makes NO sense to me.

We let Feely go because he wanted 1.5million and we were only willing to give him 1.2

Now Arizona offered Rackers 2million and that wasnt enough for him.

So we have Rackers coming to visit us now...

How the hells that supposda work out ??

Not to mention isnt Rackers an UFA? We wouldnt be able to sign him if he were unless he agreed to take less money than Feely in which case this entire scenario makes NO sense.

I think its almost a done deal we go with a dirt cheap kicker, who atm seems like Folk

Watch Rackers sign for 1.2 Million just to fuck with Arizona.:shit:

Unlikely, but it would be hilarious.

I got the feeling that Westhoff was never too high on Feely. I would always watch those press conferences on the Thursdays before game-day, and got the feeling that Mike W. expected more out of Jay.

It's just so stupid, all we had to do was give feely a fair offer. He wasn't breaking the bank, we get cheap at such silly times. I'd rather give Folk a chance than go w/ Rackers who truly did choke in last years playoffs.

You can't go wrong with some competition in training camp.

in my opinion if we signed Rackers the competition for the kickers job would be great for the kickers job and really push up the players standards

To me it's simple. As much as we like Feely he had one glaring weakness. Kickoff depth. I always felt that Feely not only couldn't get the distance, but also the height on kickoffs. I always thought the Jets' special teams on kickoffs appeared a little late getting down the field which to me was a sign of a less than optimal kick. The Jets with their defense want to bury teams deep in their zone. Touchbacks start at the twenty which is good, but the Jets are greedy and want height on their kickoffs that are in play in order to bury the receiver and hope for a turnover. Does anyone have the stat for starting field position of opponents after a kickoff?

I just think that eventually one of these swaps is going to piss off the locker room.

Anyway, I do agree Rackers is better on kickoffs and gets close to twice as many TBs per season. However, I'd like to know how well he kicks in snow, rain, and the meadowland winds. The Cards have played in a retractable stadium since '06 and apparently Rackers sucked when he played in Cincy for a few years.

This could work but there has to be competition. Rackers has been one of the premiere kickers in the NFL for a while so I don't know how much he wants to compete for a job. He might be able to get more money in Cincy or B'more.

I will take Rackers over Folk----------ps do any of you remember Feeley before he was a Jet? Go see how he did on other teams, I liked him but I like Rackers also. At least Rackers has plaey in Cincy where the weather can suck----Folk has kicked in Dallas and kicked real bad--the guy misses extra points!!!!

Interestingly, his best season came the season before the Cards got their new stadium with the retractable roof. It's still Arizona though. Not much snow, I hear...

Folk didn't miss any xtra points last year. I think Folk is the one - this could work out real well for the Jets. The guy came off hip surgery and if he corrects his mechanics ...

    This.

What a pointless deal. Draft some great tackling kicker in the 7th round. Can Gholston kick?
