Ok guys i just wanted to see what everyone thinks the east will look like at the end of the year. For the record im a huge Marlins fan lol 1. Phillies (i hate these bastards but i put them winning the east because of that lineup and rotation) 2. Marlins (i think they have a legitamate chance at winning the wild card, top two guys in the rotation is just as good as any teams in the NL, the lineup should produce, the bullpen has me worried though) 3. Mets (i think they'll definitely be better than last year with a healthy reyes, beltran and wright. Rotation worries me though) 4. Braves (i think Hanson will experience a sophomore slump and they're lineup doesnt scare me at all) 5. Nationals (nothing needs to be said here) Any thoughts? Opinions?
I agree with your predictions. I'd slot the Braves higher, but I really don't believe that they can keep guys like Wagner and Glaus healthy all year.
Exactly. When you look at it, top to bottom, the mets have a better lineup and a better bullpen than the braves in my oppinion. I think the only thing with the mets is the rotation behind santana.
The Mets better make a trade with their rotation otherwise they'll be watching games in October yet again.
It's the Phillies and who cares at that point because none of them will be playing in October. I actually like Phils Braves Marlins Mets Nats
What rotation problem? Omar acts like the rotation is perfect! He needs to be fired. The Mets rotation is horrible. and he did nothing to try to fix it. I just hope they do not trade Ike davis to fix it. We need him to be a stud for the mets not someone else. The NL East Phillies Braves Mets Nats Marlins For some reason I just think the marlins will have a bad year.
I disagree with the Marlins top 2 being just as good as anyone in the NL. The Giants, Cards and DBacks would like to speak with you.
Phillies are going to run away with the division by at least 10 games, probably more. Braves and Marlins will battle for 2nd and the Mets and Nats will battle to stay out of last place. It is going to be a looooooong season for us Mets fan.
You think the Nats are gonna be better then the Marlins???!! Unless Josh Johnson goes down for the season and some other crazy unjuries happen, that prediction won't come true.
So your telling me that you think the mets and nats will be better than the marlins this year? Do you even watch baseball?
Mets will finish 2nd or 3rd (the Marlins and Braves will be hard pressed to both beat them out). They have a hands-down better lineup than the Marlins and Braves. Sure, some question marks with the pitching staff, but I don't understand the mentality that the Braves and Marlins don't. After Josh Johnson and Nolasco, there's some significant question marks there. And the Nats will finish last. Anything else is unforeseeable. John Lannan's their current ace (until Strasburg comes up), and that's not saying much.
After watching the Mets/Marlins yesterday I think it's safe to say that the Marlins D is going to kill them. They were brutal. Sanchez looks like he may be a hitter but he looked terrible at 1B. Call it a hunch but I'm not buying the hype on Maybin. The Marlins may be looking for a CF by June if he plays like he did yesterday. I can't wait for Reyes and Murphy to get back. Our lineup will look much better once Cora and Jacobs are riding the bench. Although Cora made a really nice play yesterday. Hopefully Matthews will play like he did a few years ago. He looked like a solid role player yesterday but it may be wishful thinking on my part.
When the Matthews trade was made, I liked it as far as a him being a backup/role player, but I hated that they gave up Stokes for him. Stokes was one of my favorite pitchers last year. (Especially because he came out to I stand alone by godsmack.)
The Phillies are really the class of the NL, and they're setup for years to come too. Sucks to be a Met fan and look at that lineup card.
I think the Braves and Phillies will both finish ahead of the Mets. What we saw yesterday, besides Mike Jacobs, has little basis in reality. Gary Matthews will look more and more like Gary Matthews, and the pitching will not be nearly as good as it was with Santana yesterday. I think the Mets and Marlins will likely duke it out for third place. Jason Heyward is the real deal and he's about a year ahead of Ike Davis. They have lots of bats and they're motivated to win for Cox in his last year. I think they have the right blend of veterans and youth in their rotation. -X-
yes I do! it is a gut feeling that as a whole the division will be better but the marlins will have an off year. They are a very talented team but every team can have a bad year and for some reason I think this will be the Marlins turn. Will they prove me wrong, probably but that is what I think.
They said it was a tough wind yesterday but the mets seem to have managed it fine. I can't wait for Reyes but Murphy is not the answer at first. when he comes back I hope he starts off hot and we trade him for a two year spot holder for Ike Davis.
Their staff is light years ahead of ours. Hanson has ace stuff and Jurjiens isn't a bad option at the #3. Kawakami isn't terrible and and going into year #2 he should be better. I think he was an Allstar in Japan. Fuck Derek Lowe though....
