    Toughness of Schedule - vote!

    Opponent's 2009 cumulative schedule 128 -128 Ranked 18th hardest in NFL.
    Travel Distance , 2010 schedule - 5048 miles

Don't know about 18th. But I'm looking at that schedule and thinking it looks easier than 18th.....maybe Jets goggles

I think they should factor in other variables like consecutive away games in the West Coast, etc, when calculating how tough a schedule is.

^ i agree totally. west coast games are always iffy for the jets, or any east coast team, and vice versa

I agree. I've always hated this stat. If you are a good team that had a good record, you obviously don't play yourself so your division opponents have a more difficult schedule than you do right off the bat. Plus, in this day and age of the NFL so much changes that you can hardly compare the next year's version of a team with the previous years. It's probably best to factor things like the days off, and the travel schedule. It's another reason why I don't like all the MNF and the Thanksgiving game. I know both teams playing those games have the same situation, but I don't like what happens the next week when there's less time off than the next opponent.

I hate it more when after five weeks, teams are mocked for not beating anyone with a winning record. Well, many of those opponents are 2-3 rather than 3-2 because YOU BEAT THEM. Hate that.

    Enough out of me...

Glad this year the farthest west we need to go is Denver.

Well they kind of have, in giving an idea of how many miles. But yeah, that factors in greatly.

Didn't Rex Ryan already slay those demons by beating the Raiders and San Diego last year?

Strength of Schedule is difficult to calculate when you are a quarter of the way through the season, and impossible to calculate in April before the draft has even happened and before the schedule has even been released.

We beat Cincy(10-6) twice, Pats (10-6) once, and shut down the Texans(9-7) offense. That gives us the feeling we'd beat them again, hence making the overall remaining schedule look a bit skewed in our favor. That's about the only explanation I can give

    PS :manning:

Or maybe they just base it upon opponents overall 2009 record?

    pretty happy with that schedule.

pats will always be tough but we can at least split a game with them again.
vikings are tough but we play at home, and if favre retires that vikings game changes a ton. steelers on the road will be a tough one also.

aside from that, toss up games like packers (but its at home) and the ravens (at home). i hope really hope we can sweep the dolfags next year, but i fear we may not. we won't let them beat us twice though. i guarantee you that

then again, schedule means dick with us. we win games we're not always expected to and lose ones we are heavily favored

    This.........

Never a fan of strength of schedule. There are way too many factors to consider. Such as travel length to away game, rest days (games after a thursay or Monday night game), key injuries, weather etc. etc.

absolutely true, its absurd to even talk about it at this point. how many times have we thought this is easy or this is tough and it ends up being COMPLETELY the opposite?

last year it happened, many, myself included thought it would be an "easy" schedule. that didnt end up being the case and it was a pretty difficult schedule.

How about....such and such team might be horrendous by the middle of October?? You just never know in this sport. That's what makes it great.

I'm surprised this is even a discussion..it's simply a product of the win-loss records of the teams you play the year before..there is no voting, no reasoning, it is what it is and it should change on a weekly basis during the regular season.
