Maybe I'm inviting flames? But I wouldn't mind getting a talent like Dez Bryant at 29, especially in an uncapped year.
Bryant is a super talent. If he's available at 29, he's the best talent available, and I would not want to pass him up. He's got his issues, but I have a hard time imagining anyone I'd want more at our pick if Bryant were to fall. Graham and Odrick are the only two I can really see preferring...
Well if Bryant is sitting there at 29, I have to believe somebody would be willing to kick us a good deal to trade back into the early-mid second. If not, we would pretty much be forced to take him. If you can't get solid value in a trade, you have to take the guy with the most talent on the board.
With Braylon, Cotchery and Bryant at wr, and Green, LT in the backfield we would have an excellent, explosive and balanced offense. More receiving threats and practice with Sanchez, would make BE better than he has been. Getting a good playoff-run(maybe even SB) we would be able to lock up a top wr-duo in BE and Bryant or trade BE(his stock will rise) for at high pick in next years draft. Bryant is only 21, and a crazy gifted player. Minor issues can be dealt with. If we are not moving up to get one of the top DTs or safeties he would be great for this team.
If Bryant drops, he will have something to prove and will work his ass off. Once he establishes his cred, he will become a diva. If he's there at 29, Jets need to decide if they can stomach his B.S. in exchange for that early production. If he gets drafted in the top 10, he's gonna hold out for his $ and be a diva right away. Good luck to whoever takes that risk.
I mean, he could potentially lock up the #1 receiver spot for the next 5 years. We already have QB, RB, TE, and 3 of the OL spots locked up, as well, all with guys on the front-end of their careers but who have already shown great ability. He'd have to be pretty close to BPA if he's available here. I would definitely take him, and just draft OL/DL/Secondary/OLB for the rest of the draft (and maybe next year, too, give or take a RB if/when Leon leaves).
