Kyle Wilson solidifies stock with pro day Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on March 26, 2010 5:21 PM ET We haven't heard a lot from Boise St. cornerback Kyle Wilson since his cover skills and his RV took the Senior Bowl by storm back in January. Wilson did not run at the Scouting Combine, but he's been called the second best cornerback on many draft rankings. Some teams may prefer him over Florida's Joe Haden. On Friday, Wilson affixed the corner piece to his draft puzzle. He ran a 4.4 7and 4.43 in the forty, according to NFL's Gil Brandt. His other numbers were also excellent, including a 38-inch vertical jump and 10-foot, 2-inch broad jump. I can't wish a player any negativity, especially when they don't deserve it. Kyle Wilson is a good player, I wish him well. I'll always be a Kyle Wilson fan, except when he plays against the Jets.
A friend of mine was getting updates from Kyle's brother throughout the pro day, had a few nice bits of info for me. His 3 cone was 3.82 and 4.09 20 yd shuttle. His 40s were all hand timed obviously, Minnesota had him as a 4.39 on his 2nd attempt, and apparently they were all over him. All 32 teams were there. I think that I'd mark him officially as a top 20 pick, no later in my mind than 19.
Well, this changes a lot of things I saw CJ spiller going to the 49ers with their first pick, as dynamic as Spiller is, I'm thinking their is now a chance they go tackle and pick Wilson with their second pick who is a dynamic corner and kick returner
Id be all for trading up to get him; Cromartie's a short-term bandaid anyway. With Revis/Manigold/DBrick/Harris expecting new contracts, we'd do well to have depth at any one of those positions.
I dont know how much of a Short term band-aid Cromartie actually is, yes he is a FA after this season but still your talking about a guy who is going to be 26 on opening day. I mean that 3-4 years under 30. It depends on how well he plays this year. If he really steps up I cant imagine why he couldnt be a starter for at least 3 years
Ya same... even with the Cro trade I'd love to get him. My new love is belongs to Mr. Trade Down, where we collect a bunch of 2nds.
Could you realistically afford Cro if he performs to the level we're expecting him to perform this year? Especially with DBrick, Mangold, Revis and Harris requiring extensions?
You forget money is not a problem at this point Cap space is and Tanny is a cap guru. Look he isnt going to get Asmouga money but he might get a Lito Sheppard like contract, I dont know at this point. Its a valid argument with so many contracts expiring in the next few years, but since money is not a problem and cap space isnt a problem either I cant see why we wouldnt extend him if he performed well
