Good point. Didn't we get scored on by New England's Pepsi machine or some shit? That's just wrong, even Eric Smith can catch up to a damn soda machine.

'Hard Knocks' Fires Up Scott, Revis, Sanchez

03/26 — Some of the big-name players who will be the stars of "Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the New York Jets" say they love the idea of the exposure in the August heat — not for themselves but for their teammates and their team.

"I'm excited for the young guys and ascending stars that can really get an opportunity to get exposure," linebacker Bart Scott said Thursday afternoon after taping some "Buzz" cuts for HBO to hype Hard Knocks. "I think we can kind of take some of this momentum that we gathered last year and continue it. I think it'll be good for the NFL and it'll be good for the Jets as well."

"It's exciting for the team, the organization, the players. It's just a good thing for Coach Ryan, too," said cornerback Darrelle Revis. "It's his second year coaching. Everybody in the world gets to see how he coaches and how we do things here in the meeting rooms, how loose it is, how we have fun because there's so much pressure on us on Sundays. I think Coach Ryan takes a good approach of keeping it very calm around here, not intense."

Quarterback Mark Sanchez sounded a little cautious but also a little pumped at the opportunity ahead for the Jets.

"I"ve seen Hard Knocks in the past. It sounds like fun, I think," Sanchez said. "The most important thing is to not get caught up in anything that's not football-related. But at the same time with Rex, he'll mix in plenty of fun. As long as we're focused on the football part, it shouldn't be a problem. We're excited that HBO picked a team like ours to show to the public."

Scott and Revis both have some vicarious experience with the show, which began in 2001 and had five previous seasons (sandwiched around a four-year hiatus from 2003-06). Scott arrived on the Ravens in 2002, a year after the Super Bowl team was on display at their '01 camp.

"I watched it," Bart said. "I was just happy that when I got there, Goose [Tony Siragusa] had retired. Man, he was tough on rookies. I was glad I missed him."

Then last season the Cincinnati Bengals were the chosen team — which meant that Revis got to see his buddy Chad Ochocinco in the spotlight, some four months before "the Ocho" visited Revis Island in Week 17 and then the AFC Wild Card Game.

"Chad hasn't gotten in touch with me yet," Revis said with a laugh. "I might ask him some pointers, but I'm going to make sure I weed out the bad stuff that he gives me because I'm sure he's probably going to say something crazy."

That, of course, is a danger for any team that participates in this pro football rite of summer. Too many people playing to the cameras or too many hurt feelings from intense camp experiences such as fights or coaching critiques can linger into the season, which starts for the Jets only five days after the last of the five-part series airs on Sept. 8.

But GM Mike Tannenbaum said his conversations with other GMs who went through Hard Knocks tell him the presence of the cameras helps a team's practice tempo throughout camp. And NFL Films president Steve Sabol underscored that with a summer anecdote about how Vince Lombardi wanted Sabol to set his camera up and have it whirring every morning at Packers camp some 40 years ago, even if it had no film in it.

Prediction here: The Jets may have a team of characters but also one of character. Rather than walking the plank into the '10 season, they'll use "Knocks" as a springboard into a much anticipated second season under Ryan.

"Mike Tannenbaum, Mr. Johnson, they're putting thei pieces in place," said Sanchez. "This is our chance to play well and have another great year and hopefully take it another couple of games farther. It'll be fun for us, and to get a chance to document it like this, I know all of us will save it forever and it'll be something to have and look back on and smile about."

this is the most important thing to me. cortland is still a shit hole with nothing to do and having a camera crew in camp isn't gonna change that.

as far as what rex did last year and now contradicting his goals by allowing a distraction into camp i just don't see the problem. the roster is very much the same as last year and everyone who has been added so far seems to be very happy to be here. last year rex was trying to breath life into a team that had it all sucked out of them by mangini. this year everyone knows what rex wants and the entire team appears to be drinking the kool-aid. a little exposure to the HBO camera's isn't going to mess up the chemistry between the players and the coaching staff unless that chemistry wasn't very strong to begin with. i really don't see that being the case.

I'm so pumped. The Jets just keep on giving each offseason. We went from the Favre offseason, the start of the New Era (Rex and Sanchez), and now Hard Knocks. Ahhhh.

I cant wait until next season!!! The Jets are giving us fans so much to look forward to next season!! Its gonna be a great season, I can feel it!!! I have never been so excited for an upcoming season in my life!! Lets hope we make some great moves in the draft to hype it up a little more!!

Ill take the brunette all dayyyyy.....although I hate to give em any credit in anything but the Dolphags cheerleaders are some of the hottest chicks I've ever seen in person.

I really cannot wait to see this. Mangold, Revis, and Scott are probably going to be the three funniest guys not named Rex Ryan to watch.

He'll try to make an appearance every damn episode.

We cannot forget Kris Jenkins. He's one of the funniest guys on the team, we just don't see many antics from him. The dude is hilarious, trust me.

Personally, I've thought the Jets cheerleaders have been pretty heinous, unfortunately. The best are Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders.
