It's not like this is going to happen every year. It's also not as though all of training camp is being broadcast live. It's a limited-scope documentary program that covers half of TC. Relax.
You are kidding right? Its not like the cameras will follow the guys 24/7, some guys the cameras will follow to lunch on occasion or follow them for a few hours while they wander around with a group of guys to explore the area. For the most part, and for most guys the cameras will not follow them around at all once practice is over. And then there still is nothing to do in cortland except hang out with your team. Also at florham park their closest friends and family are around to be with, when they go to cortland for the most part they don't know anybody except for their team mates. Please explain to me how these guys won't be able to bond better in cortland than they would in Florham Park, even if the cameras are wandering around?
Are the same people who are bitching about hard knocks also the ones who complained when we landed a primetime, national game on Thanksgiving night?
Yea...the talent we have means nothing. I was think 11-5 this year but after hearing that there are going to be TV cameras at TC 4-12 is inevitable. 1. Yes they have lost their way. Since the past 40 years have been nothing but success why break tradition? 2. Still dont understand the pissing and moaning about Thanksgiving. Why is a home game on TG ridiculous? We played on TG a few years ago when we sucked and no one bitched People just need something to bitch about.
Rex knows what he is doing he was there in Baltimore when they had the first one. If he thought it would ruin his locker room he would never let it happen..if anything rex probably thinks he can use it to motivate the players..as a fan you have to be pumped..the Jets are finally in the spot light and the patriots are in the shadows..I am pumped I can't wait.
Maybe the Jets are doing it for national exposure. Its not like we were 4-12 last year and we are trying to make up for sucking. This is just adding exposure to a team that went to the Championship game and is getting better and better. How can this hurt and who says this will replace winning Besides, I love this show, I watch it ever year, so now I will love it even more. The media HATES everything Jets. we saw that from the Colts game on, its more of the same.
Good points. If you want to be a periennial good team, especially in New York, you might as well learn to live in the spotlight and embrace it. That's what I like about Rex and Sanchez, neither wilts in the big moment, they seem to step it up, that's what you want. Funny, I heard Francesar trashing it yesterday, saying the Giants would never do this, like that's the standard everyone must live up to. It must kill him that the Jets are the more prominent team in the media, at least for now.
Not sure If I like or dislike them being in the spotlight? I don't want the team being distracted from football. I'll watch (for sure) just not too comfortable with this.
We always seem to suck or be on the skids when we run into the Giants. Hopefully that will change, nothing lasts forever...even cold November rain.
look at the HC's featured in the series history. Wade Philips Herm Edwards Brian Billick Marvin Lewis I think Rex Ryan is better than all of them, you basically just seem worried about some deep psychological effect this will have ont he teams practice/performance. Dude your not pointing out anything that requires a keen eye. Players like Rhodes would be a detriment in this situation. Diva's, camera's to put yourself in front of. For all the un-needed risks theres tenfold more plus sides. The chemistry and bond the players have will only get stronger, and anyone who looks average is average. I dont see David Clowney beating out Edwards or Cotchery cause camera's are at practice. I dont expect Rex Ryan to forget how to scheme a defensive gameplan cause he chewed out the team and it was recorded I dont expect Darelle Revis to forget film study because he will crack some jokes to lighten the mood I expect a fun behind the scenes look at my football team. If any coach or player looks bad in the spotlight thats just simply reality. and the reality beyond that is theyll have months after filming to get their shit together if they somehow feel a media presence at camp affected them. I'm not here to convince you to get excited, I'm just saying life goes on. Players who want to bust their ass, will bust their ass regardless. For all the hard work we will see, plenty of hijinks and laughs will be had. Camp is fucking hell for players, this will be a mix of NY Jets work hard play hard for us all to see. point in case. if your not a fan of the idea, thats fine. I just think if my team doesnt perform well come regular season, its them and not HBO's fault.
I think this is a good idea- this show is fantastic. I watch it every year, but all I can think about is how awesome it would be with an insider perspective to our jets. If a few cameras following the jets around for half of Tc will have such a drastic impact on our success, we have much bigger problems...
