John Jerry, Offensive Lineman, Ole Miss Height: 6'5 Weight: 328 Prospect Comparison: Damien Woody Projected Round: 3rd or 4th 40 time: 5.15 Positives: - All-SEC first teamer - Beastly run blocker...strong as hell - Good feet - NFL Pedigree (brother Peria plays for the Atlanta Falcons) Negatives: - Conditioning - Weight concerns - Tends to get beat by speed rushers - Tackle or guard? Jets?: The Jets have to start building offensive line depth as soon as possible. Jerry, who's spent time at guard and tackle at Ole Miss, fits our style perfectly. He's a devastating run blocker at times, but he lacks the quickess to seal off the edge against speed rushers. I can see Jerry developing into a right tackle eventually, but he should begin his career inside at guard...much like our very own Damien Woody.
All of Matt Tennant's negatives seem easily correctable by spending a year or two learning as a backup. Wouldn't be a bad 5th rounder.
I really like Matt Tennant. It just seems that every single lineman from Boston College does well in the NFL, doesn't it?
Actually, I was thinking of Peter "PMD" Rosenberg:
I don't think Steven Stone will get drafted. He's got good height to play 3-4 end, but I don't know if he's strong enough to push pro linemen around. Jermaine Cunningham is one of my favorite pass rushers in this draft. When I hear back from Andre Roberts' coach tomorrow, I'll do a report on both Cunningham and Roberts...hopefully it'll be up by Friday.
I didn't forget, man. I've had a lot of shit to deal with over the last week...I got into a car accident, so I had to deal with getting a lot of more important stuff done while on pain meds. ...classwork, insurance info, and a lot of time laying around.
