I probably would have gone Bulaga there, but I wouldn't characterize it as a bad pick. They still have 14 to address one of those 3 needs. If they do go Bryant, though, in the real draft, I'd probably expect a trade up from the 2nd to grab McCoy.
I almost requested to join in, but I was afraid of the slow pace. I'm the kind of person who would feel compelled to check in compulsively.
Agreed, its not like Dez Bryant is not an elite prospect he is, but I think when GH made the pick their were other prospects on that board who I would consider elite talents who fill more of a need than Bryant.
I did the Hawks draft in the 3 rounder and I was lucky to have Okung fall to me there. Hawks need O-Line and secondary help badly. However WR help is understandable and despite all of Dez Bryant's problems, we saw how last year's draft worked out. Andre Smith did EVERYTHING you should not do at the combines and at draft time yet was a top 10 pick by CIN. If the talent is there, you just won't get passed up too often. I would have went with Barry if I was SEA but its not a horrible move.
I was here all morning, WW, then I had to run out at noon thinking I would BRB, but I got held up much longer than I expected Anyway the pick will be in shortly
nice pick, Jabba.....Earl Thomas should soften the blow for Miami for not being able to land Antrel Rolle in FA.
Thanks MB Its easy to GM Miami, I Just need to think of what I would hate to see them do ... then do it CB Sean Smith FS Earl Thomas SS Yerimiah Bell CB Vontae Davis I WOULD HATE THAT
With Spiller going right before the Seahawks pick, it was good that they got 1 of the top offensive players earlier. I like the Bryant pick.
Earl Thomas is a nice pick, FS is a big need and Thomas is a heck of a player. If you had gone pass rusher, I couldnt disagree with that move either
Draft board left me with some options I didn't expect to have. I think Pierre-Paul should help the Titans out on defense.
I think what people are really not understanding about the Seahawks is that they have massive needs across both sides of the ball, but their BIGGEST problem is the lack of impact players. The division itself and the teams respective strengths should show you why certain positions were and weren't addressed early, but the big picture is that the Seahawks weren't going to win if they didn't score. Could I have gotten Berry? Yeah, but there's no way I could justify taking him over Haden. You don't take a safety in the first round (much less top ten) if you don't have a corner already on his way up (Trufant being 29 and fading a bit). And, when you have a blocking scheme that few other teams in the NFL have, you can get better bang for your OL picks later by finding guys that fit the system. The Seahawks aren't going to compete next season no matter what happens in the 2010 draft. If I were going at this thing to fill the biggest holes, I'd be sitting with a sinking ship anyway, and have players I wasn't totally comfortable with. Instead, I'm leaving the boat on the docks and fixing up those holes the right way, with an eye on the future. Say what you want about Bryant and Morgan, but these kids have the ability to be Pro Bowl players within three seasons.
Drafting for need gets you nowhere. You could make the case that Bryant is the most talented offensive player in the whole draft. I probably wouldn't have taken Bryant there either, but I understand it.
