Sell them now when the casual fan isn't thinking about it being cold and rainy.

When I got married my wife and I decided on October, I told her if the Mets were in the WS we'd have to postpone it. All kidding aside they lost in Game 7 of the NLCS that year. We set a date in March of that year. Fortunately we decided on early October. It was kind of surreal as we watched the Tigers knock the Yankees out while riding in the limo and then I was late for the ceremony because I was in the locker room of the country club watching the Mets eliminate the Dodgers.

Why did we have to volunteer for the Thanksgiving game? I have season for 45 years and I don't plan on going the the Turkey fest. I will stay home with the family for the holiday and watch on TV. Woody did us a disservice in accepting this offer. The new season is getting off to bad start so far.Jetmike Sec 334p

    You made the choice.

Really, how many Thanksgiving games have the Jets played in their entire history?

The sad thing is I was more excited about the Mets having a shot at the WS then getting married. My wife still gives me shit about it but guess who was all excited when I won tickets in the lottery for game 1 in Oakland. Talk about bad omen...niether Oakland or the Mets made it.

Certainly it's anybody's choice and I won't knock those who pick family over the Jets but it's not like it happens every year. I am honored that the NFL wanted the Jets in this game. It's not like they're asking you to go to London.

Good point Rich. If family gives you shit, you can counter with "At least it's not in Toronto!"

My wedding was a formailty, basically a trip to Vegas and a drive up the coast. I smoked up before getting married so I could handle the Italian restaurant we were hitting after it. Survived, so far.

You couldn't be more right. There is always something to complain about with this fanbase. I can just imagine the outrage if we make it to the Super Bowl and fans have to deal with a Sunday night game.

Maybe everyone will get their wish and we'll be crappy this year, so we can get plenty of Sunday afternoon games in 2011.

Sunday afternoon is made for football. Born that way and will die that way. Thursday night games are a novelty I never liked. I like it less that we are playing it.

The NFL created this crap for ratings. The Thanksgiving original games are tradition and are great. The night game is another novelty.

you can call it nationally televised, but if you really look at it the number of homes it is in is miniscule opposed to a sunday afternoon national or probably even a regionalized game. if the jets play san diego i guarantee there are more viewers able to watch on a sunday afternoon regional game.

I think you may be doing a tad of underestimating when you include in all the DirecTV & dish Network & I think Cablevision is also on board leaving TW as the only major that does not carry NFLN

sure champ but how many of those carriers carry it as a basic channel like abc or nbc or cbs? how many carry it as an expanded basic that can be seen on any tv like espn? i may be wrong but i dont think any of them.

as far as i know they are all in at least the lowest level digital package which greatly reduces the number of homes it is in.

i tried to find the numbers but couldnt find them. i am just saying that a new york/ southern california broadcast may very well be on more tvs than a nfl network "national" game.

as someone else said its a gimmick game that the nfl network put on to try and get people to buy their channel as you have to pay extra to get it. its also done to try and force networks to move it into lower tiers of service. the nfl network WANTS to be espn and command 4 or 5 bucks per subscriber to dish, directv and cable. people just dont care that much.

although i will give them credit for getting companies like comcast to put it in their 15 dollar basic digital type packages.

On DirecTV if U buy the Sunday Tix package you automatically have access to the NFLN. As for Dish while I do have it it appears if you listen to there advertisements when you enroll with them you also automatically get NFLN

Also NFLN does not want U to buy there channel which is why TW if they agreed to carry NFLN wants to charge the consumer xtra for it & NFLN says NO to that proposal.

Again visualize ALL the bars/saloons in the USA that subscribe to the DirecTV Sunday Tix & that means they also get access to the NFLN so in essence it becomes another MNF game

Man... you guys got told by a woman to quit your bitchin'.

    Now that's bad.

Seriously though. I hate seeing people complain this much about such a non-issue. I'm not a season-ticket holder, so I'd gladly buy tickets off anyone who doesn't want to go. Provided they're good seats, of course.
