we get 8 regular season games and i hate to 1 for any reason. but thanksgiving is spent with my kids and family.
I friggin' hate this. I hate the greed and absolute disregard for those who buy the tickets and attend the games. Not by the Jets, but by the NFL. Why does the NFL get to dictate our holidays? What's next a "Christmas morning game" Open your presents with Chiefs vs. Browns! Give me a fucking break. For years I've dreaded a home Thanksgiving game, yet Woody "acquires it" as if it is a reward for his coin flip fit the other day. Thanks Woody. Now I have to get up at 4AM to put the turkey in, and ask my family to leave the house by 4pm on Thanksgiving. Many of us will have to work the Friday after Thanksgiving, and that will really suck. Can you imagine the traffic on 95 that night? People may never get home returning from relatives houses only to get thrown into stadium traffic. The combination could be horrendous. Don't bother with the GWB - swim it. This sucks balls on so many levels, I can't believe it.
Holy crap- for all of those who keep bitching, just don't go. The NFL can't please everyone. For years we hem and haw, demanding more recognition, a national stage etc. We get it. National game, Thanksgiving Day, and people still aren't happy. Yes, it does suck because it falls on a holiday, but you just have to decide whether you will blow off the tail end of a "semi-important" holiday and make the game, or watch the game from the comfort of a relative's home (or your own). Jets fans......ugh
the truth has been spoken. we went over this last night in a drunken stupor at my house. turkey in the parking lot this year. all the men couldnt be happier. we are all getting ready to brace the storm of pissed off broad of course, but we all feel its worth it
Hey it could be worse. About 12 years ago I thought that I was doing the right thing- purchased tickets for myself and 10 family members to attend an Islanders game in the afternoon. Only after purchasing the tickets did I realize that I did so for Easter Sunday. Family wasn't too happy about that.
I don't consider this game National TV when a majority of the nation is unable to watch it because its on the NFL Network and not every cable carrier offers it
With all the bars out there that have Direct TV which gives them access to NFLN it is certainly more then a local game @ 1PM. True at this time I know for sure TW still does not carry the NFLN so I also understand that it is not like a game that would be aired on say ESPN
Excellent! The jets rarely get a thanksgiving game, and getting one at home is pretty cool. After thanksgiving dinner I get to unwind to some jet football, can't beat that.
easy for you to say when you don't go to every game. if I went 2-3 times a year it wouldn't be a problem but I always go to every game and now one of those games is taken away from me.
Two worthless "Preseason Games" and now a third that I will not be able to attend. Might as well dvide the ticket price by 7 to determine the actual per game cost of your season tickets.
Well lots of people have posted that this years xhibition games are only semi worthless since it will give the STH a chance to get used to the stadium & scope out the parking situation. As for the T/giving nite game as a STH I know I did not receive a questionaire from the NYJs if I approve of the game or not. Hopefully at the time of he game we are running away with the AFCE & the entire metro area is going wacko with the NYJs which will make it simple for you to sell your tix to someone who can go to the game
I recognize that for folks who are season ticket holders, it represents a loss if you can't go. Also, I'm sure that the secondary market for tickets for this game, on account of the holiday, is going to be awful. That being said- for all those who wanted this team to get more respect and exposure, we're getting it. There's always going to be an affected group regardless of how these things are scheduled. At least it's not the early game on Thanksgiving- that would surely present even more of an issue.
I don't mind the Thanksgiving Day game at home at all. I'd rather get my agita directly than from peeking at the TV from the dinner table. Added bonus, the home game gets me out a family commitment, and you won't find me complaining about that.
I am going but I do agree with feelings on the matter. But it will be on local channel, but yes, most people can't see it and the place will be 1/2 empty in my opinion. Great day to take the train
This is not about respect and exposure though as many people still don't get NFL network and who is watching a game Thanksgiving Night anyway? We will b/c it's our team but I have yet to watch the Thanksgiving night games. I don't care about exposure anyway, we got a ton making the title game and if we keep winning all the respect and exposure will come w/ that.
A football fan watches the game. I watched the game last year, and will definitely not miss this one. Especially with the Jets in it. What is there to do at 8PM thanksgiving night anyway? Bloat?
