Curtis Martin: Pittsburgh (Big East) Lamont Jordan: Maryland (ACC) Cedric Houston: Tennessee (SEC) Kevan Barlow: Pittsburgh (Big East) Freeman McNeil: UCLA (Pac 10) John Riggins: Kansas (Big 8/12)
I'm told that Jared Odrick's best time today was 4.93, improving on his 4.98 from the combine. I'll work on getting the rest of his stats from today's PSU pro day. Here's Mickey Shuler (blocking TE, mauler, late round prospect)--a lot better than I anticipated Pro Day Results - 6'04" 251 lbs, 4.62 40-yd, 4.25 20-shuttle, 6.70 3-cone, 10'11" broad, 37" vert, 28 bench
If TakeMeHomeJerryHughes actually provides some decent info in his posts, then I won't say anything and I told him that through PM. He knows that I'm going to fuck with him if he says something stupid.
Probably not on the Jets board, but Brandon Spikes is just falling like crazy, this is probably as bad as Ali Highsmiths fall in 2007
He's a Penn State homer!! Difficult to be objective when you have man love for every player at PSU. I live 10 miles from OSU and call out the shitty players in Scarlet and Gray.
Is it really homerdom to pass along statistics from our pro day on prospects who they Jets could use? I'd imagine you'd report Thad Gibson's 40-time whether you liked him or not. It's not like I'm giving a glowing scouting report on either, just posting relevant information in the thread devoted to, um, reporting workouts from team pro days. It's not like I'm saying the Jets should draft Josh Hull or Daryll Clark (or that they'll pan out in the NFL, because they won't), or expressly promoting the selection of those guys--but even a Buckeye like you can admit that those are great numbers for Shuler, and that Odrick is a formidable 3-4DE prospect.
I'm not denying those were great numbers. I had Shuler in one of my earlier Jet mocks, don't see a need with Hartsock resigned. My point is you really stand up for PSU players....which is fine. IMO, it's difficult, at least for me, to be objective when you're a die hard Nittany Lion fan or any Team's fan. I know my feelings may not apply for everyone, it's what works for me. I'm not a Buckeye fan, I do enjoy watching their games. I really don't have a favorite College Team. I love College Football and evaluating how players will fit in the NFL.
Getting back to the Florida pro day, I thought Tebow looked pretty bad with his new throwing motion you could tell how awkward it felt for him, he didnt really zip the ball he was so tentative to his delivery he didnt add any power. Todd McShay gushing about him didnt do any better
I thought he looked okay. Tim Tebow will eventually be a starter in this league. He's certainly a project, but he will become a starer. I'm guaranteeing that.
How the hell did I stand up for them? Was there ANY commentary in that post, other than the duly noted great workout by Shuler? All I did was pass along the numbers, bro. Take it easy.
Eddie Jr. is Penn State student, so of course he's going to like a lot of their players. I didn't see any kind of homer-like remarks in this thread. Just because he's rooting for his school doesn't mean he's a homer. You could say the same thing about me when it comes to Fresno and Carolina. I've become somewhat attached to a lot of those players, because I've watched them grow up for the past three and four years. I can tell that Ryan Mathews is a first round talent and that AJ Jefferson is purely a workout warrior that has no place in this league on defense. I've watched Eric Norwood become one of the best defenders in the SEC, but I realize that he's a late-second to early third round prospect. He knows Jared Odrick is a mid-to-first rounder and that Shuler Jr. is a late round prospect. We did see him overrate the hell out of Navorro Bowman earlier in the year, but he's backed down a lot since then. (...and before someone asks me why the hell I'm standing up for this guy: TakeMeHomeKerryRhodesAndJerryHughesAndJohnDenver)
