Be willing to check down to his RB and TE more often. Hopefully LT and Leon can give him confidence to utilize the RBs in the passing game. Shotty calling a screen pass every once in a while would help too.

    No thinking.

Hopefully and from what I've read, he's been putting in the work in the off-season in the film room and in the coach's office. All that work should translate into thoughtless execution.

I'd also like to see the Jets continue to use him exactly as they did last year. I want to see him almost totally handcuffed for the first half of 2010. I want to see him so hungry to make plays by December that he can't help but be amazing.

I'm very nervous that Schotty has been in Rex's ear the entire off-season about "opening up the playbook" and getting fancy once again. Fuck that. Leave the playbook closed. I don't need to see Sanchez or Edwards or Cotchery or Keller make the pro bowl next season. I need to see a division title.

Ground and pound, simple and brutal.

I would love to see him run around the pocket more.

Run outside of the pocket? Cause running around inside the pocket might look strange...

** I am posting this before I read what anyone else said. So I'm most likely repeating one or all of my points**

There are a lot of things he needs to improve on:

1.)Playing from Behind- He seems to panic when the Jets are behind. Frankly he was not too good when the Jets were playing from behind. Maybe that is a function of being a rookie and not having that experience at USC. He just tries to do too much. He needs to just get that first game where he leads the team when they are behind and he should be ok.

2.) Ball security- He was fine in the playoffs but man there were periods where he was downright awful. This is more LDO than #1.

3.) Chemistry- I still do not believe he had much chemistry with any WR in particular. Hopefully he can get that going this offseason. Sanchez needs a go to WR and develop a chemistry with them all in general.

4.) Check downs- I can not recall a game where he had more than one throw to an RB. He only threw to the RB in desperation, when he was running for his life.

5.) Demeanor- While I think jumping around and generally being a rah-rah guy is fantastic, that works both ways. Moping around the bench, disappointed/angry and whatever other negative emotion is not something a team leader should be doing. He has to work on that because as the starting QB the team feeds off of him. The negative crap has to go.

That is it for now I am at work will add more later......

What you want to see in year 2 is an improved ability to read defenses/coverage. That's the hardest part of moving to the NFL, the speed of the game and the different looks a QB gets. Sanchez has already shown he can make all the throws accurately, and put zip on the ball. His decision-making was bad at times, and hopefully with an improved ability to read the defenses he'll make strides.

    Game experience.

Holding the ball down near his hip with one hand is a problem, but the rest is game experience.

He's only played 18 games in the NFL, and 16 in college.

He needs more game experience, and most of the concerns in this thread go away.

it was fun watching this season....because we saw how our franchise QB dealt with adversity...and showed that he's more than capable of "bouncing back" from it. The majority of rookie QBs, and even veterans in some cases...have a hard time overcoming media backlash and losing. Sanchez was able to do it...in one of the biggest media hotbeds in North America.

I can't wait for the 2010 season to start....to see the strides he's made since the AFC title game.

we saw the problems diminish as he got more comfortable in the NFL.

There were articles out the ass that it began to "click" for him. Anyone who's played sports understands what that means. The game started slowing down.

No one is wrong in what they are saying for the most part, but the answer to most of his problems is game experience.

He was a fucking rookie. I don't care that he was the 5th overall pick, you gotta wait 40 games until they are truly comfortable in the NFL. Its the QB position - a position most people don't understand.

    precisely.

I still remember vividly...how most of the board was ready to throw Sanchez under the bus because of his midseason struggles.....but there were a handful of us (you and me included) that stayed the course in supporting him.

Patience is a lost virtue at TGG.

it was a joke. obviously you cannot improve height. I'll take Sanchez the way that he is. Or at least was during the playoffs.

    ah, i missed the humor..

when there were threads bitching about the fact that he was too short last year, it made me crazy.

He needs to pick up his "getting blown in limos" performance.
