If I mistook some of your words intended for another poster as though they were intended for me that's my mistake and I apologize. I have no problem manning up and admitting I made a mistake. And I honestly don't care what struggles you've had with other Giant fans; the "I had a problem with one of them so they must all be bad" rationale is the backbone for racist lines of logic. I spoke to you about stereotypes in the interest of trying to salvage a legitimate discussion out of what is otherwise a bunch of bullshit betwixt the two of us. If you want to talk about it, great! If not, that's great too. Now, if you think that encountering a number of Giant fans some how makes you beyond me even mentioning stereotypes to you I don't really know what else to say to you save for ego is NOT a reason to ban certain topics of discussion. FYI, I've encountered lots of Jets' fans that are obnoxious assholes; I don't assign that label to all of their fans. The mentioning of stereotypes is because even if I do not prescribe to these labels, I am aware of what common (mis)conceptions are about specific fan bases. From the feel of your last post 1 of 2 things is happening: 1. We're completely misunderstanding each other. This is possible because I feel like we're having 2 different discussions, and at least one of them is an argument. 2. You have no interest in discussing anything, in which case we're done here. It boils down to this, IMO: Giant fans feel the need to ascertain that the Jets are forever second class citizens and cannot give the Jets even the slightest modicum of credit, even if it's well-deserved. Jet fans suffer from an inferiority complex of sorts and need to assert the virtues of their team even if there are few to argue and even if the situation doesn't really call for it. When you bring these 2 things together (both of which more or less representing the worst in each fan base) you a BS tornado the likes of which makes meetings on Capitol Hill seem tame in comparison.
Giants get 1st game, Jets use green lights first The Giants may get to open the stadium but the Jets will be playing Monday night so we will be the first (I hope) to see the stadium in all its green lighted night time glory and that is pretty cool. Plus the Jets get to open the stadium to a national audience where only locals will see the Giants on Sunday.

All that matters to me is that the name is New Meadowlands Stadium. No more Giants Stadium. During Giants games it will read 'New Meadowlands Stadium'.
Is that official now? Have they completely stopped looking for a corporate sponsor? The most important thing to me is, of course that the stadium name is at least neutral, but that the seats aren't fucking red and blue anymore. The grayscale looks great, and now it will feel as if we're finally the home team.
Jets Stadium I don't blame Woody for being pissed at league for conducting their "secret" coin toss. After spending 850 million on a new stadium, you would think he deserved a little more respect that what Goodell gave him. Woody should buy the sponsorship rights to the new stadium and call it JETS STADIUM.

I am glad we get the 7pm game instead of the 1pm Sunday game because its so damm hot in September. I hope we have 2 road games after that and a late game in week 4 so I don't have to die in the sun. Having the Thanksgiving night game sucks, my wife is gonna be pissed and the place will be 1/2 empty even if we are good, imagine if we have 4 wins. Stupid. in theory you are correct in practice every announcer will continue to refer to the new stadium as 'Giants Stadium', probably at least 3 times during our Monday night opener. if you think woody flipped over the coin toss, wait until the announcers yell "...and Mark Sanchez has just thrown his first TD in the new Giants Stadium" old habits die hard
Woody should have built a Stadium of his own in NY. I know he tried in Manhattan but we could have built a Stadium on the old Shea site and had our own building for the first time.
I could debate the stereotype subject with you, probably on many levels, but this just isn't the forum for it. That, and I don't have the patience for that kind of in-depth topic. Regarding your posts, it would seem to me you simply got drawn into a Jets/Giants s*** talk and could help but post... ...to which I got pissed at, and responded in kind. Then you initiated a discussion about the stereotypes applied towards Giants fans, which I made no mention of, and attempted to morph it into a general description of the Jets fan base. Why? I'm don't know. But after reading that, I couldn't help but offer one of my own personal little stories regarding fans of The Classier New York Team. What it really boils down to, IMO, is that most Jets fans recognize the Giants have been more successful over the past three decades. We also recognize we've basically been tenants at your stadium for the past 26 years, which, yes, helps produce the "second class citizen" notion. But instead of being humble, courteous neighbors, most (read "most", not "all") choose to be jerks, who prefer to rub it in, create animosity and hate, then proclaim themselves (laughably) a classy fan base. Your post seemed to fit this stereotype (i.e. inflammatory comments, on a Jets forum, on a sensitive topic). Hence, my response.

I agree he should of gotten us our own stadium. But in a business sense he is going to make more money by sharing a stadium then owning his own. The Jets and Giants will split the bills 50/50 and keep 100% of their own profits.
I heard on the radio that the Giants front office were the ones officiating the coin toss, and how come no Jets representatives were present for it. It sounds like the Jets are still going to be tenants in the new stadium.
I could care less who opens the stadium--that said I hate Monday nite games--they end too damn late and work the next day is always a ?. I just listened to WFAN and Carton said that "not only do we get Home Monday nite BUT WE WILL GET HOME THANKSGIVING" which to me would also suck
