Norv inherited a 14-2 team...so he didn't exactly build that team to what it is today...and he's done squat in the playoffs. I'm surprised there haven't been more suicides in SD over the last few years.
Great move, IMO. Frees us up a LOT in the first two rounds of the draft. Now we can solely concentrate on our D, and nap the BPA at DE/OLB, CB, or S. And can we now officially claim that NO MAN can resist the persuasive powers of Sexy Rexy, and his side-kick Tanny?!
as usual people around here make things into a overdramatic debate. heres facts: LT can catch better out of the backfield than Jones and has better vision. (anyone ever get tired of watching jones fall on the ground when a hole is opening up feet away?) LT wouldnt have signed if he wasnt willing to be a rotation back The Jets have a better OL than the Chargers, let alone the whole league. LT's leadership is second to none and a benefit to any team. We have a future HOF as opposed to a late bloomer whos making up for his first few years of mediocrity by still thinking this is a one back league. One person wants a ring more than the other. my guess is it has a better chance of landing in NY than KC. LT past his prime is better than most RB's; just plain and simple.
That "Chargers" fan doesn't know shit...and he proved that when he said Darren Sproles is good pass blocker. LT was banged up as a feature back. He won't be used that much here in New York. GET THIS THROUGH YOUR HEAD: LT is a better, cheaper option than Thomas Jones is for the Jets.
+1 I'd really like to see this team trade back even more now. With the signing of LT, the Jets can now focus on bringing in depth on both lines. This is the perfect draft to stock up on 3-4 defensive linemen. I'm not so sure I want to see the Jets draft a corner in the first, especially after the Cromartie trade. I would like to see a defensive end, a rotational nose, and a developmental pass rusher picked up in this draft.
If Greene is the new starter and is, as we have seen , a power back, why wouldn't Greene get the goal line carries?????? Taking Greene out and putting LT in inside the 5 yard line makes no sense whatsoever. TDs are an inflated fantasy stat. Besides, Sproles couldn't be used on the goal line. I wouldn't be surprised if LT's 12 TDs averaged over 2 yards per TD. And did SD become a passing team because of LTs decline or was LTs decline because of SDs increased commitment to the passing game? I'm not sure it wasn't the former and not the latter.
I leave my computer for 2 hours after following this all morning and I end up missing the actual announcement. Oh well. LT baby!
I like this move. Bringing in a veteran that knows Schotty should help keep some of the crazy plays at bay. Greene will benefit from another high yardage mentor. Most young running backs are lucky to get one, rarely do they encounter two. I'm hoping that Leon gets the recovery time that he needs and remains a Jet. This free agency activity has created the potential for a very good year.
You've got to get down the field to score TDs. That's why I care. Greene has shown that he can score from anywhere on the field. LT can punch it in from the 1. If you don't see the difference, I don't know what to tell you other than to follow a simpler game, like baseball.
