I think it's much more practical for LT to choose minny over NY for a few reasons: Dome, experienced QB play, better all around team (IMHO), splitting carries with just 1 back who is injury prone as opposed to 2.

But I still think NY has a shot just because of the following:

    1) It's NY
    2) His number 1 goal is winning a super bowl, but if there was an option 1a, it would be beating Belichick and the Patsies who he despises with a passion, which we can certainly give him that opportunity.

I think its probably 50/50 right now, but if he goes somewhere else I don't think its that big of a deal

Tomlinson is also a certified Jesus Freak, so he may have been a little turned off by Tannenbaum.

    My 2 cents.

Both teams could use LT, I think in the end it'll be Brian Shotty's past with LT vs. Playing with Favre and I hope he picks Shotty and signs with us. I think if he signs with us tho, Leon will be gone.

I don't buy the playing in the dome thing as opposed to outdoors and here's why. the guy has had issues with his toe among other things. It's certainly well documented that turf is harder on the legs then grass. I don't think the dome vs outdoors factors into his decision but for those who believe it will there is a negative to playing in the dome as well.

Im not going to argue, but i don't see what great skill set you think LT brings to the table? if this was 2006 you have a good point, unfortunately its not and 2010 and hes not the same player he was.
] I don't think eithor player is along term option by any means and i can understand letting Jones go. But to let him go and then be interested in LT just doesn't make sense to me.

However he could choose the jets because he'll get a lot more oppurtunities to run that ball, behind a better o-line who is dedicated to running it. Plus he'll be familiar with the offense and the o-coordinator.
I can understand that. If the chargers brought in TJ after dropping LT I would be pissed.....why get rid of one 30 y/o RB and pick up another?

Because LT sells PSLs. TJ, not so much. This is all business, which I don't mind. Whatever gets the Jets more face time (without risking overall team success).

I must be the only one here who doesn't want LT.
We're ready to go to the next level , superbowl?
Erm, no not in my book we are not. The Colts let us have a gimme, and we played Cinci just as the wheels came off their season. We played well against SD, but also got some lucky breaks, Kaeding being the most obvious.
Getting LT for what, one season ? Will just be a quick fix AKA - Favre again.
I'm all for picking up another good HB in the draft and going from there. Nobody knows what LT will or will not be able to do come next season.
I'm not going to cry about it if we do get him, I just think we should be headed in a different direction.

this thread is now 40 pages long. anyone who thinks this would be a good move has said repeatedly that they are aware this isn't mvp LT we are getting. LT is one of the great pass catching backs. thomas jones can catch a ball out of the backfield but he isn't the threat in the passing game that LT can be.

thomas jones fills the same role that greene fills but greene is younger and more effective at the role of the bruiser. LT is in between what greene brings and what leon brings. he has elements of both of their games and would be an ideal guy to have in a 3 man rotation for 5-12 touches a game. we aren't looking for LT to get us to the promise land by himself, he would just need to pitch in.

No your not the only one! You are not alone! I don't think it would be a wise signing!

Are we really giving up anything by signing him besides money? We'll likely draft another RB anyway even if we do get LT, so I don't see what the problem is.

That would definitely be more beneficial for you guys, imo. This draft is pretty stacked at RB too.
I think you guys might be over-estimating his catching ability. It used to be great, but I'm not so sure anymore. His timing was always off with the QB, doesn't have great initial burst to run his route, and often trips over his own feet. He can't change direction much (if at all) anymore either.

Also he had 3 receptions for 0 yards against you guys in the playoffs. And he had the least receptions of his career this year (part of that is due to the emergence of Sproles though).

How do you compare lt signing here with us trading for favre a couple years ago? The comparison doesn't make any sense since we have our young rb of the future in greene we just need depth at the poaition which is wat lt would be:a depth signing

And regardless of how we got in, we got in and made it to the afc title game and had a double digit lead in said game with a ROOKIE QB and ROOKIE head coach and are bringing back essentially the same team so I think its pretty safe to say we're ready to make the next step

At least losing a year of experience for a rookie, should we go that route.
Its a balancing act, the O line is not getting any younger and is ready now, so yes bringing in SOMEONE (vet) like LT is a good idea if we are bonafide contenders and IMO we are not, sure I think we may win the AFC East, but after that.......

    We can beat Indy.

We WERE beating Indy,IN INDY, till we had no healthy RB to field, and lost a CB.

    Without Jenkins, Without Leon Washington.

Healthy, we're a more powerful team, because we have the ability to play keep away,
and with Jenkins, Manning isn't putting up 400 yeards of offense.

Now let me ask you this.

Which team has gotten better just be gaining experience down the stretch.

    Indy, or the NYJ?

I would respectfully submit that Sanchez has grown by leaps and bounds, and starts next season LIGHT YEARS ahead of where he was at the start of last year.

Home playoff games and a bye week are not unreasonable expectations for this team barring injury.

The thread is 40 pages long because everyone's trying to convince themselves LT is something hes not. With that said you have a decent argument and bring up some good points which are viable. I do understand what your argument is for LT.

The most logical thing anyone has said is it has to do with PSL and the fact LT was a HUGE star so he can help sell PSL

Gus if we win the AFCE we need all the veteran experience we can get , I still think they draft a RB in the 4th round and release Chauncey whateverhisnameis.

With natural expected progression from Sanche/Greene/Keller/Edwards , I see this move as a complimentary move not a negative one at all.

Did you have the replica TJ jersey..come on own up!!!
