Just bought that CD and Dropkick Murphy's today about 2 hours ago. Yes, bought. First CD's I've actually bought in many months. Streetlight's CD isn't nearly as good as their studio albums, but it's ambitious covering some of these songs, and while it's not Streetlight's best, it's still better than the vast majority of albums out there. The Meanest of Times is great, but I really prefer The Warrior's Code. That was my first introduction to DM, and I couldn't have loved it any more. Oh, and as for 99SOR, I'm going to try and hold judgment until the other 8 albums come out--I loved some of the covers on Vol. 1 (They did "Me and Julio" far better than Me First and the Gimme Gimmes), and Hell and Linoleum are staples of their concerts. But a couple choices were a little random and uninspired--I didn't love Punk Rock Girl, Red Rubber Ball, or Skyscraper. Here's to hoping that on V2 they skankify some more popular songs--one of my favorite covers is RBF's of Another Day in Paradise, because we'd all heard the Collins version a million times. Covering obscure songs seems a little self-indulgent.
Well, I picked up the Live on St. Patrick's day CD, not any of the studio albums. Got the artist of this song correctly at Quizzo last night in a Name That Tune thing.
