It really does make a lot of sense for them to move up and make a trade with Tampa Bay. It’s sticking out like a sore thumb. It makes a lot of sense for Tampa Bay as well. They can just take Dan Williams early and gain a very high second round pick out of it. After multiple times of running through mock after mock, there is no other way for them to get what they really need out of this draft – a QB. They could use their second (40) and their first (6th) to move up in front of Washington and guarantee them Clausen with the 3rd pick in the draft, if they just wait until it is Tampa Bay’s pick. Seattle will still have another first round pick and could still get a good OT at #14. If they let Washington take him or allow someone else the opportunity to move in for the strike then they will be stuck in the second trying to move in front of Cleveland to get McCoy. So either way they will likely have to move up to get a QB. I think this trade is very likely to happen.
Speculation time.... I don't see how you can make this claim, just because it makes sense to you doesn't mean its going to happen...
Just thinking it through and what I would do in Seattle's shoes. By no means do or did I say it will happen. It just makes a lot of sense.
You realize Tampa has multiple second round picks Also beyond what else Seattle needs is a pass rusher, tackle, and a running back there are a handful of guys they could take with those first two picks they are in a great situation no reason to mess it up
I suppose it's possible. As long as there's the possibility of someone still trying to move up for a QB, whether it's Cleveland over Washington or Seattle over Cleveland, at the end of Round One, we'll have a shot at moving back.
Why would Tampa say no to trading back 3 spaces for a 2 and a 6? They need players in the worst way, and picking up another second in this deep draft would be huge for them...
Seattle needs A LOT more from this draft than a QB. They have huge needs at just about every premier position. QB, RB, WR, and Left Tackle are just the offensive needs, they need so much it's scary. What's funny is that the defense needs a lot of help too, but just doesn't have the glaring holes the offense does. There's no way they go for their franchise QB without having weapons or anyone to protect him.

You may be right. We are here just to throw things out there and debate them and learn a little from each other. However, who would you rather have on your team: Column 1 - Gerald McCoy Or Column 2 - Dan Williams and Navorro Bowman Keep in mind that your top four needs are DT, DE, WR, and OLB. And that other than those options above you still have the 35th pick and the 42nd pick. Getting 4 players in the top 42 in this draft would be huge, in my opinion.
Good argument and I won't deny that one bit. However, we both know that they need so much help that they will never get everything they need in this draft. It’s just not plausible. They don’t even have a third round pick. Why not take their QB and their OT in round one and then fill the needs the best they can the rest of the way with the understanding that this is a two-year building process? Clausen would not have to be a day one starter. Now they could take the approach of getting their OT, DE, WR/RB with #6, #14, and #40 in this draft. More than likely, no matter what they do, they will likely be picking pretty high again next year. The question is how long do they want to suffer? Getting the QB now speeds up the learning process one year.
You also forget they can pick a QB latter on in the draft. Sure its not the best talent but if they do draft someone in the latter rounds, you could very well pencil that guy in as a starter considering the lack of quality at that position. Keep in mind next years class maybe just as good as at the QB position. You need to think of it from the other way around here, if you give your future franchise QB a good line and some weapons (and a Defense would be nice too) that eases the transition so much, regardless of if you take a QB latter this draft or earlier next draft.
McCoy. And it's not even close. It is a two year building process, and limiting their picks is not the way to get that process going. If they want to end their suffering sooner, put some talent around Matt Hasselbeck, who I believe can still be an effective QB if they give him SOME help. There's a more in depth idea I have, but I don't want to get in too much detail with the 7 rd mock so close, but you very well might see it in play there.
Maybe they'll trade both McNabb and Vick to themselves for Kolb. Seems like a crazy trade, but it could work.
