I don't trust him either. But in comparison to what we had...and don't have right now. He is still the 4 and it is his job to lose. I would put money on him losing the job...
Fastest guy on the team? Is he really? He gets burned on every single route. In all honesty Coleman wasn't any worse than Sheppard last year. I don't care too much if he's on the roster or not, as long he's buried in the depth chart. We're probably keeping him because he's a team player and a proven commodity, and getting stuck with someone worse would be a disaster.
Yeah Clowney is a fast son of a. I was sold on Clowney for a bit when he caught that bomb by Sanchez in the first Miami game. After that he seemed to have disappeared. I know he was inactive for 3 games? Guess coaches didn't see anything out of him.
yeah he is the 5th corner but somehow he always finds a way in the game and when he does he always has the potential cost us games by giving up huge plays
if coleman had regressed or stayed the same he would have been cut. coleman does stink, as i said in my post, but he has improved. he did make a few nice plays and break up a few passes last year. i want coleman cut, but i'm not going to pretend he has not at least improved a little. going from zero to 1 on a 10 point scale is better but not good. that was the kind of point i was making in my original post.
Reviving this for thoughts. Not snarky shit (although those already posted here are funny as fuck), but it seems like while the fans want this kid gone, I don't really here a lot of grumbling from the Jets about him. I get he's a low depth chart guy, but like vinnumber said, he still tends to find himself in games and plays which cost us. I'm just dying to know what they know that we don't know. Ya know.
His salary went from 550000 to 1.1 mil this year. He knew the system, was cheap as hell and the Jets can't use all of their picks on CBs. Now that he isn't so cheap I expect he could be gone if they can find another CB to replace him after they get one to replace Revis. Seriously, the Jets can't have all first round picks sitting on the bench too.
There are like 100 guys at camp right now, and there are plenty of cuts still to be made. If there is a better corner by the end of camp, I'm sure Rex Ryan and Mike T will be able to judge that correctly, and will make the right move.
Coleman blows chunks. Other than the Bender/Clarke tandem, who has played worse the last five years? People complained about McCariens. McCariens was ten times better a player than Coleman.
I mean it's not like it's a gholston situation where the Jets are invested in the guy. If he was so terrible he would have been let go by one of the two regimes he's played under no? You're not going to find much better at CB #5 across the league, sorry.
He's a 5th stringer who plays and has seen significant (for a 5th stringer) game time over the last few years. I'm not asking for Revis, but damn.
