Oh good, we could have still drafted a 2nd round power back only to watch him sit on the bench while an overpaid, aging TJ filled his role with lesser production. What wonderful sense that would have made!

    Ouch.

Too bad he couldn't sign with a contender......like the Jets.
I wonder how much the Jets would've offered in comparison to KC.

Then again, you never know. Teams have gone from the basement to the playoffs from year-to-year plenty of times.

I guess at this point in his career money was more important then playing for a contender.
He served us well and i wish him luck.

Thats ridiculous! We could have offered him more than $5.5 mil over two years. We could have offered $6-7 mil for two years.

TJ took the money and ran.

Good luck in KC, you'll need it!

Last season he showed signs of breaking down in the final third of the season. He had never done that before. He is 32. It was the perfect time to cut bait. get a younger, cheaper guy.

We traded picks to move up to get Greene and he sat on the bench most of the year, if leon hadn't gotten hurt who knows? These things usually work themselves out and sitting for a year behind a professional like Jones couldn't hurt any RB.

Yeah, but Team Player Thomas had his pride hurt. Now he'd rather be a backup for another team than be a backup for the Jets.

TJ was on his last legs and isn't worth $6 million, so no way the Jets could justify paying that amount. it's real easy to claim otherwise and spend someone else's money, but when you are writing the checks it doesn't matter whether there is a cap or not.

if our line holds up next year, it won't be hard to find a backup to replace him. heck, we don't even need a backup to replace him, just a third RB to spell Greene and Washington, which is a duty hardly worth $6 million.

I agree with the side that if the money was more important than finishing the job that we started this past season, I'm glad he is gone.

I just broke the news of the signing on WFAN (Matt from Brooklyn incase anyone was listening).

I asked if Jones is going to regret it not re-signing for less with the Jets, but of course Mike misunderstood me and took it as if the Jets are going to regret it.

Hopefully it would have worked itself out before Jones' aging legs cost us.

San Diego thought he wasn't even worth a look and they desperately need a back..we'll see whether San Diego or KC has the better front office.

    You heard me?

I only called because over the weekend, I called the Fan a few times with a friend of mine (because we had absolutely nothing to do with our pathetic lives). I figured, what the hell, I'll try calling Francesca, I doubt I'm going to get through. I obviously did.

He misunderstood what I said though, should have saw that coming.

But why would we? In theory you could overpay and land any player.

I still think I would have just held onto him for one more year.
