If he was ready to contribute in the way people think he will, you'd think his value would be a little higher in that uncapped year. Something scared teams off, us included.

lol im loving these rumors that the 49ers could use a poison pill on Leon to get back at us for the Crabtree tampering.

Yeah theyll show us whose boss giving us the 49th pick in a ridiculously loaded draft !

It would be stupid to let Leon go now since TJ is gone. Shonn cannot do it himself. The only way to make losing Leon ok is somehow being able to get CJ Spiller in the draft but he has alot of acollege mile son him. PLS just keep leon give him his $$$.

Dude wed get an early 2nd round pick in a ridiculously loaded draft. Do you think were really going to have Greene carry the ground game alone, when we would have 3 picks in the first 2 rounds of a loaded draft ?

He's old for a RB, we knew he wasn't getting a big deal at his age but he's still a productive player and was an important guy in that LR.

We'll see. I have faith in the FO, and the way he fell apart in the playoffs tells me something. Apparently, they don't believe he's going to remain that productive this season.

I will bet he turned down the same money from us.

That would have been the only contract that made sense.

Turn his roster bonus into salary, and extend for a year. I said that during the season.

It's too late to worry about it now but I felt he could still be productive especially as part of a tandem of RBs where his carries were limited.

Leon is going to be 28, coming off a catastrophic injury, and we have needs we can't fill thru free agency, so this wouldn't be the worst thing that would happen, although it would leave us with very little margin for error. In which case, I'd prefer if he comes back. Whether Sanchez develops or not, I still like the idea of a heavy run based offense.

I am not worried about replacing TJ, you can find plenty of pounders in rounds 4/5 if you draft smart, and we typically have.

Congratulations! I would take a second for Leon. I did not think he was doing a whole lot this year before the injury and I was concerned that the contract was preying on his mind. The big plays just were not there. It may have been contract or something else, but it did foster uncertainty in my mind. So I will take a two.

Yeah the problem with Leon is hes not a great back for pounding the ball with the rush. Hes never taken many carries, and does his best work on short dinky passes.

Having a #3 back like Leon would be good for our team, but we could just use woodhead for the short passes in the flat (no im not saying woodhead is as good as leon)

And by getting rid of leon it would allow us to get a true #2 back so that we dont have to overwork Greene and wear him out/injure him.

Yeah, let's lose everybody an start from scratch. Losing Leon for a freakin 2nd rounder would be an absolute joke. But at least some of you can have something to overrate on draft day then. Problem is then they would have to play.

Are you really looking for logic from someone whose name is a Dave Matthews Band reference?

As much as I love Leon a 2nd is tough to turn down. We got him for a 4th to begin with and there will be similar undervalued backs in the later rounds.

My hope is that this offensive line and running game develops into a unit like Denver used to be where you can line almost anyone up at RB and be successful.

As happy as I was when Rhodes was traded for a 4th, that's how pissed I would be to see Leon traded for a 2nd.

I just don't think it will happen.

It was always my understanding that Tedford took him out because of his inability to pass protect.

I've seen him make receptions from dump off passes, screens, over the shoulder (there are veteran NFL WRs that struggle with that) on wheel routes, running full speed on shallow crosses, one hand grabs, acrobatic catches on high passes, adjust to catch balls thrown behind him; you name it. Bottom line is when the ball has been thrown to him in games he catches them. That use to be all one needed to see to determine if a RB had the tools to develop into pass catching threat out of the backfield. Apparently, you have your own metrics.

Leon, you're a great guy and a fun football player to follow, but if the Jets are getting a top 50 pick for you, I hope your bags are packed, my man.
