    Jone to Chiefs

    per Schefters twitter.

Thomas Jones deal is for $3 million this year, $2 million next year and another $500,000 in incentives.

So, who still thinks we should have paid $6 million for him for a single season?

Yeah, sucks for him. Wish him good luck though, he will be a good backup to Charles.

What he got is irrelevant, we had him under contract and he was important to us. It's an uncapped year and he had one year left. We should have overpaid him for the one year.

He's not going to start over Jamaal Charles and has no O-line, I think he got paid what he's worth. Just think he would be better off with the Jets, mainly due to O-lne. Now we def got to keep leon somehow and sign another consistent back. Need three good RB's to be safe now in NFL.

Apparently the FO and CS had different views of his importance this season.

He made it about the money. If he actually cared about the team, he'd have resigned for the amount he was eventually paid. It cuts both ways.

I hope I'm wrong but I have a bad feeling we'll be missing him around week 10 but I'm glad we didn't pay him. I was hoping he'd come back for less $.

This could all change if we bring in a back to take a bunch of carries.

I'm just not buying yet that SG will be able to handle the load. Obviously if we don't give him the shot, we will never know but not sure this was the year with the opportunity we have.

I wish him luck too, but his attitude last season made it clear he was about the money. The team just took the same stance. I'm grateful for what he did for us, but I'm glad we'll likely be getting a lot younger at the position.

Keeping Jones would have meant ignoring a fantastic RB class in the draft.

Thomas Jones gets $3 million in 2010, $2 million in 2011 from the Chiefs
Posted by Mike Florio on March 9, 2010 5:06 PM ET

The Chiefs have ended their search at tailback.

    We think.

After kicking tires on Thomas Jones and Justin Fargas and lining up a visit with Willie Parker, the Chiefs have agreed to terms with Jones, according to a league source.

Jones signed a two-year deal; he'll get $3 million in 2010 and $2 million in 2011. He also is eligible to earn $500,000 in incentives.

With the Jets in 2009, Jones rushed for a career-high 1,402 yards and 14 touchdowns. The Jets cut him to avoid a $2.8 million roster bonus. They had hoped to try to re-sign him.

Well if Leon bolts, cutting TJ could REALLY come back to bite us in the ass. Unless we use that 2nd rounder we'd get from Leon's new team to draft a talented RB.

I really hope you do because we could use him for depth.

His attitude by not holding out and never discussing it all year? The man shut up and play and played well.

Keeping Jones had nothing to do w/ the draft, if we liked a RB in the draft we would have taken one whether he was here or not.

He will not last behind that line. We have one of the best lines. Sorry to see him go.

The Chiefs? Good luck with that.

He could have came back here for a cheaper price, I'm sure, so I can't feel so bad for him.

I will miss him though, and appreciate it all he did for the Jets.

In the playoffs, I'd say he was something short of a beast.

Dependable player for the most part, not the most aggressive running I've ever seen, was very durable and a good backfield blocker.

Bye, TJ, good luck. Thanks for helping to keep our QBs upright, thanks for compiling stats so people could feel proud that we had a 1000 yard rusher every season, and thanks for not getting hurt.

    Time for new blood.
