i actually disagree with all most of you guys. i think given the right situation and team anderson can be a good starting qb in this league. i dont believe 07 was a fluke. that being said i dont want him as our back up, i think that is a waste of space for both anderson(since he will never start) and the jets(would rather have more of a veteran leadership both to guide sanchez and for the locker room)
at least a runny wet fart serves a purpose.....Clemens hasn't climbed that high up the evolution ladder yet.
Seriously. Anderson's not a great QB (and not a starter in this league as far as I'm concerned) but he's got a big league arm and the balls to use it. That's 2 more positive qualities than Clemens possesses. As for the Jets signing him, it doesn't make any sense. If, God forbid, Sanchez got hurt then the Jets would want a safe, ball control QB to come in and basically not get in the way of the running game. That is the opposite of Anderson.
Anderson was a backup in 07 and really lit up the NFL in a span of about 10-12 really good games. For a second, I thought maybe this marks the end of a shitty Browns history. But then he also had a game last yr where he completed TWO passes out of SEVENTEEN. I mean we really saw the extreme in Dereks case. Maybe he can become a decent backup over time. I don't know. I hope he becomes what he was in 07 again and be considered a top half NFL QB.
I know this is personal for your face-sake, but at this time, for our team, and our offense...KC is the better QB. He is a veteran back-up game manager, capable of holding the fort and not making mistakes should our starter go down. His demeanor lends itself to helping Sancho become a better QB, something that shouldn't be ignored. DA is just a poor-man's Burt. The sun shined on a dog's ass for a year and he put up some stats...big freakin' deal. He's a flash in the pan risk-taker that has no place on our ball control offense.
i don't like either option, moosey. The point i was making was that one piece of shit was a little shinier than the other. I will NEVER be comfortable with Clemens going into a game in relief of Sanchez..... and no....i still don't think i look like Clemens
When did "game manager" become a synonym for "terrible?" It's just like how shitty white baseball players are referred to as "scrappy" because nobody can point to anything that they specifically do well. I can't believe that you would feel comfortable with Clemens managing anything in a meaningful game. Unless handing the ball off, winging a few passes out of bounds, and taking a few bad sacks counts as "management" these days.
How is this Jets news? I guess it kinda goes under the category of laughing at Mangini and his shortcomings with that franchise, especially now that Holmgren's stepping on his nuts. Whatever, who am I to question it... Derek Anderson wouldn't really be someone that I see as a good backup for Sanchez anyway. Sure Clemens is a joke, but we do have Erik Ainge and Kevin O'Connell, both 6'5" guys, with relatively good upsides to groom. If we bring in a backup QB, we should bring in a real veteran, not a one hit wonder pick machine. Even "Dog Shit" Clemens could hold it together, and pull together a win against crappy teams, like Tampa, without throwing a game-costing interception, however I do doubt Clemens' ability to not fumble the snap, or trip over his own feet. Hell, the one good thing about DA that we could use, is that he's got familiarity with Braylon, for whatever that's worth. I'm sure our backups have some kind of a rapport with him anyways. I don't really see the point of bringing in DA as a backup. He'd be a waste of a good roster spot, and of the potential of Ainge and O'Connell, as well as his own potential. I can still somehow see Anderson starting with some miserable team, or as part of a QB competition with the Bucs, with their convoluted QB situation.
Maybe we can work out a deal and send clemens their way for a 3rd, 4th, or even 5th round pick. Id absolutely be content with shipping off Clemens to reunite with Mangini for a 4th rounder.
Yes Anderson is better than Clemens but I say were fine with Kellen and Ainge. Honestly I think Ainge will soon be our sole 2nd QB. Whenever Kellen leaves.
I think he'd be a decent back-up for us, but there are probably a few teams out there that would give him a shot at a starting job.
My post was not made in a vacuum. The topic to which I was referring was KC vs. DA. KC has shown the ability to play safe, albeit unremarkable football. DA hasn't. Therefore KC is a better backup option than DA.
