IYO So you introduce the number of receptions Best had in college as why he maybe should not be considered a receiving threat out of the backfield. I countered with the fact that he had more receptions in college than Leon (a player I feel he compares favorably to and a player that has shown to be a tremendous receiver) with roughly 40% less time and you respond... Why didn't you say you didn't care about how many receptions RBs had coming out of college in the first place? Or does it matter only when you bring it up.

No, that's not my opinion. That's a fact. CJ Spiller, Dexter McCluster, and James Starks are much further along in terms of receiving. I'm not saying Best can't become a good receiver, because he's can...but it's stupid to ASSUME that he can be a dangerous receiver out of the backfield when he has limited experience catching the football. How does Florida State get it's running backs the football? The Noles under Bobby Bowden loved smallish backs that can bounce it outside. They like to run toss and read plays. They also love to throw screen passes. Booker caught a ton of passes at FSU. So, I'm sure that all of their backs practiced similar plays. Leon Washington was a member of a RBBC at Florida State with guys like Lorenzo Booker and Antone Smith. Washington kind of played second fiddle to the more productive Booker. Also, after looking up his stats...he only played two years at FSU, so your argument that Best did more in less time is false. Now, let's talk about Best. Jeff Tedford, who I know a lot about from his days at Fresno State, does not like to throw to his backs. He loves to pass the ball down the field, so he can open things up for his smallish, quick backs. Teddy runs a hell of a system in Berkeley.

Hmmm...interesting. I know the Niners are looking to find a change-of-pace back to pair with Frank Gore. This may be a good move for both teams. The Niners would be able to go after defensive backs and offensive linemen instead of a back.
I agree. He'd give Sanchez a nice check down option, but I'm still not sure we're going to add that element into our offense. He'd be a nice depth signing though.
I would too. I don't really care if he ends up on the Patsies, but the Niners have a higher second, so trading him there would be ideal.

Seeing Faulk in Green and White will be a tough pill to swallow considering how he's killed this team over the years. Then again, winning is everything. The fact is he would be a nice replacement for some of the things Leon does on offense if the Jets were to lose him to another team (which I would not shed a tear over). Essentially, we'd trade Leon for Faulk + a second rounder...I would completely be on board with that.
please please 49ers sign leon to an offer sheet, it would be perfect we get a high second rounder and leon moves to the nfc where we dont have to worry about him killing us in the future. then we can draft a cheaper option in the middle rounds
There you go thinking for others again. I'm not assuming anything. It's not like we are talking about Shonn Greene who came out of Iowa not having double digit receptions in one season. I've seen him catch balls at Cal (some ridiculous in nature that WRs could not make). I've watched enough football to be able to tell the when a guy has good hands and is comfortable catching the ball. He had 27 receptions in 2008, the first year he became the primary ball carrier and had 22 receptions this past season in 8.5 games. He also caught passes with ease at the combine out of the backfield and down the field. What ever happened to watching games? I was really hoping that if someone bit, they'd be ahead of New England's picks in the 2nd round, but it's not a bad pick. If you told me Gerhart would definitely be there at that point, I'd be ok with it. Still, I'm interested to see what kind of offer is made to Leon.
