Catch-22. I'd like Douglas back. If someone wants to overpay for him, I'd like to sign someone else who can replace him.

    Murrell is gone.

I want Douglas back. I don't think we should get too crazy with replacements and tinker with an already great defense.

This is what I was BANKING on, and I'm sure Tanny was, too. I liked Douglas, but he doesn't do anything that Devito couldn't do for less money.

Douglas is going to be overpaid by some other team based on the merits of our #1 defense - which means we will be able to dip into the FA pool to fill a need in another area.

If he gets overpaid soon enough ill gladly pick up Dwan Edwards to replace him. Im loving how we can just scoop up Rex's old players to fill the needs on our team. Especially since our new defensive line coach is hey coming from the Ravens.

Now I just hope that Douglas doesnt go to the Pats. Let him go to Seattle, Denver, one of those garbage teams that dont matter to us.

He was a good stop-gap player easily replaced by Devito, who is of similar talents but much younger and cheaper.

    +1

Douglas is a luxury role player...nice to have on the roster...but like you mentioned.....we have players like Devito that can fill that "role".

If he can get a better deal from some team willing to overpay....all the power to him...other than depth, his departure doesn't leave us in a big lurch.

So the opinion is DeVito is ready to step up and start?

This will create a void depth wise on the DL.

That's my point. The Jets overpaid for that turd based on the Steelers' kick-ass defense. Now we can watch some other desperate franchise do that same thing and we will benefit from it.
