    +1

Rhodes was a bitch and got dumped like a bitch.

Eric Smith or Lowery would be fine IMO. Draft some DB depth and move forward.

I say we keep Smith and Leonhard backs there as starters... We'll be the only team with 2 white starting safeties in the league!!!!

    Likely.

Jetsblog mentioned something about the Jets taking a deeper look @ Taylor Mays.

Hate the decision of drafting Taylor Mays. We need to go DL or LB with our first round. Let's get a Safety in the 4th round you can trust rex on his decision with DB's.

One look is all it takes. Hopefully Rex does not fall into the same hubris as Mangini, thinking that he can work wonders with a guy who can barely understand the game.

The tackling dummy is a better tackler than Rhodes, so I would say it would be an upgrade?

I like Smith and Leonhard at safety with Lowery rotating in. Here's another name that is being very overlooked but could be a factor here:

    James Ihedigbo

Ihedigbo got into the backfield on a few blitzes last year and he's pretty much a lock to play 3rd safety in the big nickel formations.

I also like the idea of putting him in the box and letting Leonhard rove.

He couldn't cover Kris Jenkins on crutches though.

Yeah. If they want him back, I'm sure he'll be back. But I don't know why they'd let him hit FA if they really think his highly of him.

Ugly played hardly any defense at all last year, and when he did it was usually as a pass-rusher. There's no way they don't sign a FA replacement for Rhodes, or draft one - unless Lowery really were converted to FS, which seems promising but unlikely. Ihedigbo isn't the guy. Not at this point anyway.
