But don't you think Greene will be the lead back? Meaning that taking another RB early seems like overkill?
I'm not sure. It really depends on who ends up with the Jets. Greene hasn't shown that he can receive the bulk of the carries yet. Taking a top tier running back at 29 wouldn't be overkill. It would be a great move for 2010 and for the future of this team. Greene has the potential to be a damn good back in this league, but he will break down if the Jets don't bring someone in to take some punishment off of him.
I think we will take a RB somewhere in the draft, but it just matters how things fall. If Mathews is there for our pick at 29 and he's the BPA I think we take him, but if he isn't there then I'd like us to do OL and DL with our two first picks and then pick a RB later on in the draft, maybe do a Tanny trade up for some falling RB like last year. I don't think we need a star RB, we have Greene to be our star, we just need a supporter, I think we can find that past round 2 maybe in round 4 or 5.
Hahaha luckily fans don't pick the players. I'm hoping the Pats or Dolphins pick him like some mocks have predicted...
Needs RB - need a 3rd guy but will pick up a veteran WR - need a 3rd WR that may eventually take Edwards spot TE - need a blocking TE, this will be addressed before the draft (Hartsock/Baker, etc) OL - need depth - probably use a 5th rounder here DL - need youth badly OLB - too much money invested already plus Rex has a history and believes he can find LBs here late or as undrafted free agents (countless examples) CB - still need another guy S - Rhodes is not long for this team With all that said, I believe our first two picks will be out of WR/DL/CB/S
Would you draft Mays and use him as another linebacker? He would definitely have the burst to get to the QB. Faster than any LB would.
I do think Mays is in play now. I could see him being a weapon of mass destruction as a blitzing safety. I'd love to see Rex Ryan have him blitzing at 6'3, 220 pounds with 4.4 speed and strength to boot. I still would prefer him not be our first, but if he's there, he's absolutely in play now. The problem is, five interceptions in three years? If he's going to play the Ed Reed role, that's not a good thing. Unless he and Leonhard switched roles. EDIT: Taylor Mays has zero career sacks and 1 career forced fumble. I assume he wasn't asked to blitz much, but this is definitely a concern. The one thing Mays would provide is a physical presence. We get angry at Rhodes for not breaking up passes, Mays can do that.
He's too small to play LB. He can't tackle for shit. He can lay a hit on someone if he has them lined up perfectly but anyone who can shift their weight or position can get out of it very easily. Mays has Darnell Bing written all over him. If the Jets use their first round pick on him it will be a huge mistake.
Mays and Vernon Gholston are the same person. Mays has shitty football IQ. Darnell Bing all over again. I'm throwing shit if the Jets pick mays in the first.
Definately hope they stay away from Graham he has Gholston similarities all over him. Big Ten, converting from DE to pass rushing OLB. 1) Pass rushing OLB 2) DE 3) RB 4) Slot Receiver 5) FS
You've failed miserably with this post. You know who else played in the Big 10? LaMarr Woodley did. How did that turn out? Woodley played the exact same role that Graham played at Michigan.
Ohio States MLBs are better, but the edge belongs to Michigan. David harris is the reason they win the tiebreaker.
