    As per Adam Schefter's Twitter:
I'm not thrilled about this. Who are they going to replace Kerry Rhodes with?

If the Cards got a 3rd and 4th for fricken boldin and a 5th, and all we got is a 4th and a 7th (not even a 7th this year) I think thats a god awful trade.

how are you going to compare kerry rhodes to anquan boldin...are you kidding me? try not to be a homer...everyone knows we are shopping rhodes bc we are upset with his performance on the field...its no secret...kerry does not warrant more than that at this point...

    i think atogwe is coming

Rams had tough options on Atogwe
March, 4, 2010 Mar 46:01PM ETEmail Print Share By Mike Sando

Oshiomogho Atogwe's contract with the Rams would have been guaranteed for nearly $7 million had the team offered more than the $1.226 million minimum for restricted free agents.

That left the Rams with two choices, neither ideal.

They could either offer Atogwe less than what he's worth, possibly damaging the relationship even while freeing Atogwe to solicit offers, with the Rams receiving nothing in return if they decided against matching whatever the market brought.

Or the Rams could have offered 110 percent of Atogwe's 2009 franchise salary, which was about $6.3 million, with "all other contract terms" carrying over from last season, when the salary was guaranteed.

The gulf between $1.226 million non-guaranteed and nearly $7 million guaranteed is a massive one. But those were the Rams' choices. I understand their decision because Atogwe, while a good player, has not been a dominant one, and he's coming off an injury.

The NFL is now operating under provisions for an uncapped year. This is new territory. We've never seen a franchise player become a restricted free agent. I'm learning as the process unfolds. The teams and agents are also learning.

At some point, we could see teams and agents challenging rules interpretations. It's that confusing.

My question is: Why didn't the Panthers do that for Julius Peppers? I doubt they would have matched, so maybe I just answered my own question, but it seems strange.

Not sure if I'm answering the question entirely, but if I understand it it's because Peppers was unrestricted post-franchise while Otogwe is an RFA. Otogwe was franchised as an unrestricted guy then after that became restricted, something that I doubt has ever happened.

Well, I mean, unless you count Darren Sproles

It's an odd fact of this year. With the number of accrued seasons necessary for UFA jumping from 4 to 6 years, you have guys who got franchised after their standard 4 year rookie contracts expired, only to find themselves restricted a year later. It's bizarre, but it saved Atogwe.

possibly a feroucious hitter named JAMES IHEDIGBO(sp). I think he has proven himself to be a REX RYAN type safety. with more playing time he can possibly develop into what we need at safety. With two excellent man to man CBs, we need a big hitter in the middle to cream opposing players. Rhodes was not that type of safety. Dig is!

I am glad the Jets have another pick in this years draft, its suppose to be a great draft and we are the kings of the 4th round, we have lots of luck in that round. Getting 2 picks for Rhodes and dumping that salray is terrific, he's not been the same player for 3 years, not just last year. Only difference is Rex had the balls to bench him, Mangina was all talk.

I don't see how we could have gotten much more.. He WAS a top safety a couple seasons ago, but recently he's played soft, has had his commitment to the game questioned, and got benched.

I don't think a 4th round pick is so bad... And I don't think we lose anything with Jim Leonhard and Eric Smith starting and Dwight Lowery and James Ihedigbo rotating in seeing how Kerry played last year...

Actually we did lose something...a guy more concerned in how he's gonna look in a suit for a crappy Karako commercial than how he's gonna perform on the football field. Good riddance.:up:Oh, and the guy with the biggest mouth on the defense who does the least about it.
