I couldn't be happier to see the prancing pony out of new york, but at the same time I am concerned about a replacement.
I think if the GM wants to do something, it would not matter what the coach says. Just my thought. Even tho Rex is a great defensive mind and will be a great coach, if a GM wants something done, he'll do it. Plus he said just a day ago, that Rhodes would be around in 2010. I've heard of smoke screens, but, that one took the cake. I think I'm just upset over not getting much for him, like I said before, I feel we just gave him away. A 7th rounder really is nothing and a 4th rounder..we could use to maybe trade up in the draft. Just doesn't feel right to me.
Best guess is that the market for Rhodes in the NFC was shallow beyond Arizona, that the Jets really did not want to trade him in the AFC and particularly not in the AFC East, and that Arizona knew the Jets options were limited and waited them out. That bonus comes due next week - it's not like the Jets had forever to wait Arizona out.
The GM and coach work as a team, both of them value the others opinions highly, this trade would not have happened if Rex disagreed, trust me.
I feel that benching helped Rhodes, kinda one of those "Shape up or leave" things and he did rather well when he came back.
Pretty Niave to think he would do this without the coaches input... or do it if he was told that Rhodes was a major cog of the D... which apparently he was not viewed as one... he was more of a liability then most realize... forever out of position
Once Ryan benched Rhodes the odds were enormous they were going to part ways. Rhodes has an ego, as we all know, and Ryan plays the players playing hardest for him without worrying too much about the egos involved, as we all know, and those two factors were bound to come into opposition at some point.
thank god this faggot is gone http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=381020 ^^^^^^^^^^^ that forum is awful lol
I hate the compensation. I was pleased with a low 3rd for him, but a 4th? We had better be bringing in Atogwe. I've been a fan of his since 01, and I'd love to see him in NY.
These people flipping out about this trade are ridiculous. He was benched this year, didn't fit in our system, and was not a good player. He had one good statistical year, he was NOT A GOOD PLAYER. Be happy we got a mid round pick in a very talented draft.
Ok, 624, I'll take your word man. I just really hope Tanny & Rex have something else going to blow us away. Who else is out there? Sharper is out of the question I'm guessing? Atogwe? He has a 1st round tender on him if I recall right.
A good portion of the board is enamored with his one good year of "Pro Bowl Caliber Play"... he's been far to inconsistent and we got what he was worth
