According to Adam Schefter, Marshall will be in Seattle tomorrow to talk to the team. He'll be a Seahawk before the end of the weekend, and the Broncos will be picking 6th in the draft.
im not really sure what to think about marshall. Yea he's an amazing possession receiver, but I feel like we need more of a Wes Welker type player to run in the slot. If we trade for Marshall, then we would have three possession receivers. Personally, I would love to have Golden Tate in the slot destroying linebackers or nickel corners.
I agree, but that means they'll have to do a sign and trade. They don't get a choice of which pick to surrender if they sign him to an offer sheet. I'm still hoping the Dolphins sign him to an offer sheet, but it's looking increasingly likely that they'll be going after Antonio Bryant instead. Do not like the thought of Brandon Graham as a Dolphin.
I remember hearing on the NFLN that they have to give up their pick(6th overall) in order to sign Marshall if they just go by the offer sheet. EDIT: From Rotoworld: This seems far more likely than the Seahawks actually signing the offer sheet.
If seattle deems that marshall has matured over the season I think the 6th overall pick would be a good move. He's a good WR and their is no guarantee with any pick. Considering they have 14th as well I could see it happening.
I think it would be an absolutely terrible trade. If I were them I would make some lame duck trade, trading down from #6 to get a late first + anything, that way youre not giving up a prime draft pick and youll get something in return. (assuming they dont just trade for him outright) Because to me it just doesnt make sense to give up the #6 pick at all. Hell even the #14 pick would seem a little early to give up for Marshall (albeit definitely worth it)
Whats stopping the Colts or Saints from picking him up. Peyton Manning throwing to Reggie Wayne, Collie, and Marshall is scary.
Uh, what? The complete lack of need is what's stopping them. WR is far from a position of need for either team, let alone one meriting their first round picks.
Well the Colts dont need him but I could see the Saints wanting him for a late first rounder. Colston is good but hes not really that elite of a receiver. Marshall is.
Money? Unless they sign him to a 1 year deal, they'll be pretty screwed in 2011 (note, if the cap returns) when like 90% of their money is wrapped up in their QB and two WRs. As for the Seattle option, I'd bet that the Seahawks would tell Denver that #14 is on the table, but not #6. It's high enough that the Broncos would be lucky to get it, especially when they have no control over where he could go, and it's an NFC team. Maybe Seattle throws in a late rounder or something as well. As for the draft, Seattle should sit at 6 and take either QB, but if they both are gone, trade down, recoup the lost pick, and grab a left tackle.
Do the colts really have no extra money under the cap. With only 2 real premium D players I find it hard to believe that we can keep Mangold Brick Sanchez Revis Cromartie Jenkins Faneca Edwards Scott Harris and they dont have room for Marshall. They could also trade Wayne and get Marshall to replace him with someone younger and as of now a better WR.
The Colts are going to have a crap ton of extra space with the cap soon. You got Bob Sanders who wont be around too much longer, and the whopping salary that Peyton commands is soon to be freed up. Hes got a couple of years left tops, although the acquisition of Marshall could easily extend that a bit since it would almost guarantee them another Superbowl or 2 before he retires. I still dont see any chance @ the Colts going after him, but it would still be a scary thought.
dude this isn't madden where players fit seamlessly into any system. peyton and wayne have a great feel for each other. you don't mess that up to upgrade from a top 10 guy to a top 5 guy.

it isn't something that would ever happen because the colts have no reason to give up their draft picks for a wr when they have been perfectly capable of drafting their own when the need presents itself.
