One of our needs this offseason is a slot receiver.lots of people r talking Brandon Marshall and the 1st round costs and high price tag.then there is always the draft. Well being a run first northeast offense,we should be running a lot of 2 TE sets.pound the rock wear down the front 7.

Well Chicago has made Greg Olsen available.imagine trotting out Edwards and cotch split wide ,now Olsen and Keller as double TE....with our poundi g running game smashing the front line of the defenses'linebackers r susceptible to the playaction.linebackers being unable to keep up with Keller and olsens athleticism.split one or both out and your looking at a nickel or dime. CB trying to cover these big bodies.

Schotty can run multiple formations aud Les playactions or just sashmouth with green Leon and tj or fargas.

At least we would have as much talent or hard to match up talent on the field at one time.

    Its the offseason....dream

I like that idea. It would be tough for teams to match up and give edwards more bomb opportunities.

The only problem is (according to adam Scheffler) that the Bears want draft picks (multiple) for Olsen. I don't know if I want to give up the picks we have left in what is said to be a deep draft. If we had more picks I would say lets go for it.

I thought about this last night.....but Olsen is more of a pure receiving threat.....I agree with you about running more Double TE formations.....i just think a blocking TE is a bigger need than signing another receiving TE.

And don't get me wrong....Olsen is awesome.....but with Keller on the roster, it doesn't make much sense right now.

I love the idea of running a two TE set with two dangerous passing weapons at TE, but one of them HAS to be a very good run blocker for the ground and pound to be a viable option out of that set.

    How is Olsen at blocking?

Well...the Bears must think Olsen's blocking stinks....because they signed blocking tight end Brandon Manumaleuna.

Yeah a blocking TE would fit in much better since we do have Keller. The chargers have that set with Gates and that other dude they have and they are both big. We need a big big blocking TE. I know we can't get him but when you look at brandon pettigrew that dude would fit in perfectly.

I'd rather have Chris Baker come back cheaply, but I don't think he will. Olsen is going to become expensive.

Baker would be a great fit for TE #2 imo.

I like that you're thinking outside the box, and I do think we desperately need a #2 TE, but Olsen is not the guy.

Not a good enough blocker. And like I said to people about Marshall and Boldin, I don't want to trade high draft picks for a receiver or a tight end. I just don't. We have 3 solid receiving weapons. We need a 4th. Olsen would cost too much for that in terms of picks and price, and he's not a good enough blocker.

Unless you want to say trade for Olsen, thinking he's a more well-rounded tight end than Keller, and then shipping Keller elsewhere. That's even more outside the box. I should stop now.
