By no stretch did I mean to compare them to the Bengals, if it came across as that than that is my fault. I guess what I meant to say was underachieving. I'm glad Tanny does not have a locker room full of TO type characters. But when you have big name guys who underachieve it can't go well towards team chemistry. I want this to go well, by every possible stretch I want this to work out but I am just skeptical

I see what you mean. Edwards wasn't going to have a big year, so he did okay, but he has to put up near pro bowl numbers on a run first team next year. Gholston is dead weight. I don't think anyone cares about him on the team. I'd hate that guy if I were on the team. All that money, no talent, no desire for the game I love most. I'd find that insulting as an NFL player, a true player. But he'll be gone soon. Its not a cancerous problem on the team.

The Jets are known for having good people on the team... no guys who get arrested constantly, and are team players first and foremost... perhaps Cromartie plays ball and embraces the culture rather being a douche... Rhodes learned what being 'me first' does to you... you sit.

wow.....i'm totally late to the dance on this....but great trade. I guess that eliminates the McCourty & K.Wilson talk for the draft.

I think he'll be on a steady diet of gunpowder.

Because he was playing for a team that doesnt have good character and always underachieves. Now he is playing for Rex and a top notch defense with pride. He'll be damned if he doesnt stick his nose in on every tackle.

there is a huge difference in mentallity in these two teams. Wait till this kid steps on the field for us in september

There are plenty of reasons to like or criticize this move. Citing team chemistry is probably among the most ridiculous of them.

-2005 ACL tear at Florida State.
-Broken hip in 2008 with which he played all season.

4 seasons in the NFL, 64 games. Where is the problem?

It works for 2011, and that's what matters right now. The Jets have tried a LOT of different strategies for the past forty years trying to win a Super Bowl, so I'm on board to try anything. If Tanny wants to go all out and add some question marks next year for the sake of building something special for this year, then I'll support it. It's a plan to do damage NOW, and I can't see how it's a bad thing. If he sucks, then he'll be gone, and the Jets will be out a 3rd rounder, oh well. If he's great, then the Jets defense will be one of the greatest forces in the NFL.

The character guys on this team are the ones that everyone knows are leaders. Mangold, Sanchez, Revis, Cotchery, Ferguson, Harris, these guys are the core, and will be the core for some time. You can count the problem children on one hand, but keep going with the tough, hard working players that represent the strength of the roster. For example, Leonhard, Brandon Moore, Scott all emerged from going undrafted and Pace and Cactus both turned their careers around after being labelled busts early,

Cromartie owns Manning........i'm sure that was at the forefront of Rex's mind when making this trade.
